I am waiting for something ... moreThey made a huge comeback on their home turf, starting with the release of the Mate 50 series, but for the rest of the world specially Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia, that comeback is only on its starting phase.

But even so, they do seem to hurry i... moreI actually even doubt that Huawei would release the Kirin Phones globally, they still have a short supply on making their own chips. Huawei even fired their "western lobbyers" team, which means that Huawei will stop lobbying in the US and in Canada, which could also affect their license on getting any western tech, maybe some but I think Snapdragon will stop supplying chips to Huawei now. Now the US has forced ASML on banning EUV machines being delivered to China, which is another BS and could potentially slow down Huawei's goal to produce global production of Kirin phones, if the Chinese could develop their own EUV machines then ASML would lose one of their biggest costumers or their biggest costumer and maybe some countries will opt to buy Chinese made EUV machines and when that happens, the sanctions will backfire and the US would start a war, blaming the chinese for being to "trigger happy"

They planning a return to the global market and expect the P70 series to double or triple in sales, compared to the P60 series

David 040882, 27 Oct 2023Well, they better hurry cause in no time, there won't ... moreThey have so much room in Europe, Africa, and Asia and that can generate enough revenue and profit for them and take note that selling smartphones is only one of the businesses Huawei has. They also sell Laptops, and other consumer electronics, telecommunications equipment, 5g, 5.5g, EVs and others. So rushing their smartphone outside China isn't a priority for Huawei just yet.

Vivo is a private company I do not know who owns it now. It originated in BBK electronics and Guangdong Oplus Holdings and Vivo each have a stake of 45% in BBK Education Development. BBK Education Technology has a 10 % stake. BBK Education Technology makes tutor tablets and is the biggest supplier in the Chinese education market.

Oppo and Vivo are seperate business entities though. I don't think research and development are separate or linked to one of the two business entitiies. I guess Huawei and Honor follow the bbk blueprint, technically they have a different owner. So Huawei has 31% market share. Glad to see Xiaomi growing.

My friend in China got offered a new phone at work. 90% of the entire work force there chose the Mate 60, and now 1-2 months later they still haven't received their phones. My friend chose a Redmi and got his a long time ago. So Huawei are trying to supply them. As soon as it stabilizes I hope to see prices drop and Kirin chips in other brands' phones/tablets, as well as in the rest of the Huawei lineup.

Sin, 27 Oct 2023It's great too see Huawei is making a comeback I will forever say, the hardware they make - great...at the time the sanctions started, pretty much no OEM could compete in terms of price-performance.
...but the software side (specifically talking in the west) failed miserably to live up to the specs - many MANY phones were literally left never to receive an update beyond a few security patches (which were also rarely on-time), with the worst part being - they decided to hide the actual Android version used on the devices and only leave the UI version visible, later claiming "yes we updated them!" while in reality only the UI was updated...
I doubt they'll ever get back to where they were globally, but in China, I'm sure they will be juuuuuust fine, their customers there did not get the same treatment the rest of us did.

Eh, what people seems to be missing is the fact that BBK is having more than a third (35%, Oppo + Vivo + Realme) of the market. That's crazy. Imagine one in three phones sold there is a BBK phone...

Huawei got banned and has lost a ton of its global market share. It's nearly impossible for them to rise back to the status they once had with so many other huge brands that have much more market share and to say the least, more "popularity". Oh and tell your friends that they can access Google Play Services through G-Box in case you didn't know that
