Anonymous, 28 Oct 2023Oneplus Open is still primitive compared to Z Fold5 (2023).... moreWhat an “unbiased” comment. I have owned EVERY Fold since the original (currently own a Fold5 for personal use and an iPhone 15 pro max as a company phone). I have also used several OnePlus phones and my wife owns a OP 11.

The camera on the Fold is laughable, so to make an argument on the Open’s camera system, which based on all reviews is much better in the vast majority of scenarios, is a bit petty. As far as the internal selfie camera, the lower pixel density over it in the fold together with the cut out in the protective film makes the whole experience very annoying, and I can tell you it is very much visible! In addition, the picture quality is below average. OS preference is very subjective, but I would call Oxygen OS anything but cheap looking. The fact that this it is their first generation foldable doesn’t mean that it is not optimized. In fact, one would argue that they leveraged the experience from all the existing foldables and build on this to provide a more refined experience. To that point, it is their first foldable but they managed to have a barely noticeable crease, while Samsung still has a ditch in their screen after 5 generations. I concede that the Open doesn’t have a desktop mode, but it would be interesting to see what % of users is actually utilizing this feature.

All in al, I am not saying the Open is better, but your post is so blatantly biased that it serves no purpose. By the way, this post is typed on a Fold! :-)

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2023Oneplus Open is still primitive compared to Z Fold5 (2023).... moreYour beloved brand is turning into the Nokia of Symbian days. Relying on brand name for sales.

      Hmm. An interesting finding.

Sole reason why Oppo didn't officially support this is due to the janky performance.
Moving the pen, moves the menu scrollable list as shown right at the beginning when the notification shade is pulled. Note that takes a finger input to initiate.

Seems a lot of picking and choosing of what the pend supports. From the Oppo screenshots looks like maybe an earlier Find N2/N1 was supported.

Until official I'd not order the Oppo Pen for poor performance. Wait and see official update to the OS and drivers from Oppo.

It's not EMR sadly but I think it's USI compatible.

Anyone know what stylus technology they're using (e.g. EMR, AES, USI)? I reached out to OnePlus support but I haven't received an answer yet.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2023Oneplus Open is still primitive compared to Z Fold5 (2023).... moreSays obviously the Samsung Knight.

So what's new with the Samsung Z Fold 5 from the Z Fold 4 aside from a updated SoC and new colours to choose from?

Samsung really pushed the boat there didn't they??

It still has the same cameras as last gen, the big visible crease in the middle.

Before you retort by saying I'm a Samsung hater. My daily driver is a Samsung Galaxy S23U, I don't blindly follow or agree with what any OEM does.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2023Oneplus Open is still primitive compared to Z Fold5 (2023).... moreno proper water resistant
Both z5 and open are x rated, means nothing.
                -no wireless charging
                +
                -no desktop mode
                +
-unoptimized software (this is first gen Oneplus foldable)
Yes it has some bugs, can’t argue.
-being a rebranded cheap brand Oppo Find N3 (literally same phone)
Oppo really isn’t a cheap brand at all
                - primitive punch hole camera on inner screen.
At least can be used, not really low quality like under screen selfie
                - having laughable brand "Open" (well this is not a tournament)
Imho it is way more creative than “brand name + fold” that ever brand use nowadays
                - lack number of official stores
                +
                - poor quality of night mode camera
All fold/flip phones have mid cameras, this one is among good ones in this category.
                - poor design and cheap looking of Oxygen OS/Color OS
It is using inner screen much smarter than other competitors (like one UI) unless you didn’t see it even on web, you wouldn’t say such a thing.

Here I am, typing on a usable front display. I don't know who was complaining about software. So far, it's been flawless aside from one thing: the taskbar and multi-tasking features are built into the launcher, so I can't use Nova launcher like I do on every other phone. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice if they separated that out into its own service app.

Oneplus Open is still primitive compared to Z Fold5 (2023). Z Fold3 from 2021 once had big stylus like this.

Oneplus Open is a failure phone of 2023, because:
                          -no proper water resistant
                          -no wireless charging

                              And that isn't the end.

There is an info, that Oneplus Open supports also a video out from USB-C.

For me it's very important, becose first reviews say that OPO don't support display port.
