Samsung announces the 50MP ISOCELL GNK sensor with improved dynamic range and video capabilities

04 November 2023
The sensor also supports 14-bit RAW image capture.

Sort by:

"Additionally, the sensor can capture images with a dynamic range of up to 120 dB and in Pro mode, the GNK can capture 14-bit RAW images."

It's actually 102dB and not 120dB.

Guys, the Google Pixel 8 Pro does have the GNK sensor. Samsung's own website says this.

Does anyone really need 8k video? How many of you own a monitor or a TV that can display 8k? Samsung should put more effort in polishing their software rendering of their photos.

To reduce the thickness, we have to design more complex lens elements which would make it even more expensive.

24MP is more than enough. Just needs better optics and bigger sensor. Only 2 lenses needed. 24mm f2. 120mm f8.

I wish they would just put one LARGER sensor on the back, instead of this multi camera lens nonsense.

The photos look very similar to the naked eye except the HP2(on S23 Ultra) over-sharpening excessively.

I think the sensors are as good as it gets unless we increase the pixel size to 2 or 3 µm, but then the sensor size would increase or we have to reduce the total pixels which would
                              compromise some other factors.
