Great news to use STOCK AOSP same as cyanogenmod firmwares. This is PERFECT. Excellent news. Hope samsung shares their source to google to include it on AOSP. Android rocks!!

Ok, so the best phone on the market basically becomes the new Nexus. Awesome. The price is a little high though. You'll surely be able to install this on a normal S4.

Android Man, 15 May 2013no disrepect to Samsung, but i think all carriers and shops... moreor better yet having the option to dual boot genuine stock android OS without having to root on one particular device. I think it would have been better if Samsung rolled out an update or a software patch where we can deliberately switch between vanilla android and touchwiz. Otherwise, the nexus 4 would definitely be a better buy for stock android than a 650 dollar s4 where the hardware might not be used to its full potential on stock aosp.

How do you even know that touchwizz function will not work on S4? This could simply be a perfect phone, AOSP with all good functions of Touchwizz!
You don't even know what are yu talking about, it is too early to say that all those functions will not work on this model!

Is this the phone that most people alway wanted?? Top high-end specs in pure Android skin with sdcard slot and replaceable battery. At this $650 price it will fly off the shelf fast. Ppl are buying S4 with touchwiz at $650-$750 off ebay.

Well if Google now supports the Samsung just like with a Nexus device, what's the point of a Nexus device anymore?

AnonD-114713, 15 May 2013Great news .... but again Samsung :S ... At least give othe... moreThey chose a proven company, that can produce, HTC has a hard time getting the HTC One to market on time "and is hurting financially", what makes you think they can meet the supply demand of a pure Google device. Google had the same issues with LG. So they chose a manufacturer who has the means to produce.

What's the point of selling at this price a basic version that does not exploit any of the available hardware? How this will differentiate between Nexus 4 except for display density & camera?
TW may not be great but it is essential for S4 hardware to function properly. Otherwise someone will be paying hefty for a phone that works exactly like its 1 1/2 years predecessor only at higher cost.

AnonD-73252, 15 May 2013I thought its a pretty well established fact that there is ... moreIf that is the case, I wonder if someone that already purchased the phone through AT&T will be able to install the ASOP version. I will buy this phone for sure now but at full retail.
