MediaTek Dimensity 8300 will debut next week

16 November 2023
Reports from China suggest a 1+3+4 architecture similar to the Dimensity 9300 but with slightly toned-down cores and clock speeds.

And there are 90% fanbase for 8gen3
So they keep a 8gen3 and rest all 9300

Funfact

Base varients use mush powerful 9300
Pro+ use weaker soc😅😂😂

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2023You say this because you think Mediatek is from Beijing, ob... morebecause they don't decide the night before the presentation the components they're gonna use on their phones. and mtk probably has still a worse ISP than qcom, which I'd say it matters quite a lot for them given that they want their "true" (x100p+ and x7 pro) flaghips to be the best cameraphones on the market.

Snap dragon 7 gen 2 will eat this on lunch

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2023You say this because you think Mediatek is from Beijing, ob... moreBecause many brands have long standing relationship with SD as it been ruling market for years and another main reason is the app developers who optimise their apps mainly for SD. Unless Android app developers start optimizing their apps for MediaTek chips, the fact that their chips are better and cheaper won't matter.

Zero, 16 Nov 2023There are crazy rumours, since the 9300 uses ALL big cores,... moreNot happening to D8300.

D9300 uses all big cores that obviously cost much more than cheaper, smaller cores.but D9300 being flagship SoC can manage being expensive.
But D8300 is Upper midranger,it can't be much expensive otherwise discounted previous gen flagships or competition would make the chip obsolete.

Jongjave, 16 Nov 2023Maybe u the one who confuse. Dimensity 8300 have Cortex X3 ... moreRumours implies that will use Mali G720, not the Inmortalis, neither the G620 (which will go with 7K series)
                        That's because...
                        - Inmortalis G720 - Uses 10 to more cores
                        - Mali G720 - Uses 6 to 9 cores
                        - Mali G620 - Uses 1 to 5 cores

So yeah, is likely that is Mali G720 and considering that the Hexa part is decent, but is not enough for the power of the CPU, is time to move Octa. Meanwhile, as mentioned before, the 7K series might have their Dimensity 7300 with Penta GPU G620

Probably going to perform similarly to 8+ gen 1 and 8 gen 2.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2023They are definitely not better in terms of efficiency eithe... moreDespite 4nm engraving, high-end SoCs from Qualcomm and Mediatek are faster and heat up less than a 3nm A17 Pro. The single-core test is useless, the applications take advantage of all the cores natively. For basic tasks it is not the fastest core that is used but low consumption cores.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2023no no this not equals to sd 8 gen 2I said equal to SD 8 gen 3 not 2.

Have you seen the efficiency of A17‘s small cores compared to A715/A720? A17 Pro has the more advanced TSMC N3 (which is much more expensive but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s better). And all these chips are on par with each other in multi core. Then you just dismiss the massive advantage in single core that is important for many everyday applications (which is what people do mostly on a phone, they don’t edit videos on a phone). The GPU is not the best in terms of general efficiency but supports MetaFX upscaling, ray tracing, AV1 encoding and decoding. Have you ever tried being more neutral and not biased? If you deem competition as unnecessary because you know which manufacturer you prefer anyway, just get a phone with Snapdragon 835 or Helio X10 because those must be better than A17 Pro from your biased point of view.

Dimensity 8300 have Cortex X3 for its main core, yes it may just 2.8 GHz compared to 8200 3.1Gh max frequency but still Cortex X3 is far better than A78 core inside 8200. Meanwhile the GPU inside 8300 is Mali-G520 with frequency ticking at 850 MHz. Benchmark show better score than 8200 with its Mali-G610 running only 600 Mhz.

Or maybe the rumors about 8300 GPU is wrong.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2023It’s definitely not ahead of A17 ProOnly in single core but who tf cares. 8 Gen 3 and 9300 mop the floor with A17 Pro in thermals, efficiency, GPU (Apple is a few generations behind in this department) and multi-core. Which are what's more important and is the reason Android is better for gaming.
