They are in bed with the Chinese government and do WHATEVER the government tells them to do. If they don't agree they wind up disappearing like so many others that went against the government. They are a bunch of CLOWNS !!

SMIC was created in 2019 and already at 7nm while the industry is currently producing at 3nm with R&D for 2nm testing samples in 2025 full production for 2nm later that year and you day their well behind?!
With $30 billion USA dollars?!
ROFLMAO!
no disrespect but do you know just how dedicated and how hard their citizens work - thr mature ones not those that have been trying the quit-quitting laziness back during pandemic.
Again this is $30 Billion USA in a country wrre the Yen is quite cheap yet efficient worh currency exchange and with new technology from Cannon that changes the entire game of lithography of chip making on wafers at a fraction of the cost!?!!
Yeah I give them 2yrs to catch up with TSMC and 4yrs where significant enough performance efficiency and orders begin significantly hurting TSMC. then China may not even have to care about Taiwan as a whole.
This is far reaching I know but it's somewhat based on education. Well seee.

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2023WTF does private owned have to do with it. They are a schem... moreThis is nonsense. Huawei is private in that it is not listed on any exchange. If it were, then it would have been in trouble when sanctions were imposed as shareholders would have stampede.
It's one of the great advantages of being private. It is owned by its employees although transparency on that side can be questioned to a degree.
It is not an arm of the PLA and, yes, it reports to government. ALL registered companies report to government in some capacity. Yes, it will carry out contract work for military installations. Why not? It's business. Do you think Google and Microsoft haven't done exactly the same for the Pentagon?
Can the government interfere with Huawei? Yes. Just like all governments everywhere can interfere with companies within their jurisdictions. In the US this can happen covertly or openly.
Just look at what happened to the AT&T deal with Huawei in 2017. After more than a year tuning the Kirin 970 to AT&T networks and just hours from a big CES announcement, the deal was scuppered.
Do you think Huawei pulled the plug? Do you think AT&T, after a full year of preparation, got cold feet just hours before the reveal - and with contracts signed?
No. The US administration interfered. Do you doubt that?
Do you doubt that Operation Shotgiant was real?
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the US was ready to issue executive orders to force companies to manufacture equipment to tackle the situation of not having enough on hand.
Funding. Huawei receives some funding through grants, loans and other regulatory incentives. As well as ploughing revenues back into its business.
This is the same as with any other company anywhere.
There was a time when, in spite of doing the exact same thing for years, the US government would complain about China giving an unfair advantage to its companies. The US administration is now making a big deal about the CHIPS Act and other initiatives. Isn't that ironic?

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2023Vertu is a LUXURY brand, not a PREMIUM brand, kiddo.
BMW... moreKid Vertu is premium not luxury.
Luxury brands makes one of its kind they are not mass produced.
Apple, Samsung, Guess, Gucci, Luis Vuiton, BMW, Ferrari,Porsche, MC Laren etc not luxury brands. Samsung and Apple not even premium.
Rolls Royce is premium but not luxury they not making hand made and all is a mass product except maybe Boat Tail most expensive car made in more than one unit. Exactly 3.
Luxury brand make just one of its kind. Like Buggatti La Voiture Noire most expensive car ever made.
Hermes even handmade and from France made in France still mass producing everything. Since its not one of kind is not luxury. But at least does not use chinese people as slaes as Apple or Guess do. Even Nike is made in Vietnam but is mass prioduced at least those 10-15 years old kids lives in much better conditions thanks to Nike.
Calling a 1500 eur Samsung phone with green banana shape blur on every photo taken a premium is a no. They are expensive but made with common materials used by any other brand. Same goes for Apple.
Luxury is hand made and its one of the kind not a mass product.

US thought that after the ban, China will sit nicelly and cross it`s hands, not ever a country with dreams of 1-st economic place in the world will do that! They will have their own chip producers and who knows , in 5 years from now, they could do a better job than even TSMC. I have used Huawei phones for over 5 years and they werre better then Samsung`s in my opinion.

All those naives talking about imaginary 'stealing' of tech, knowhow and stuff ... they need to study basic history.
The so called rich, poor, 'advanced'. etc. categories of countries are not sui generis. If its about 'stealing', then you should first talk about what the so called 'rich' and 'advanced' countries stole to reach where they are today.
They plundered resources, impoverishing countries for multiple generations to come, annihilated civilisations, traded humans like animals, killed millions whenever it suited them, imposed exploitative trade practices to always have the upper hand...the list is too long for here...
All these practices made them rich... very rich.
And herein lies the irony folks, now they are the ones complaining about 'stealing'.

Cpt.Power, 02 Dec 2023Meh Samsung aint premium brand. Apart Vertu there arent any... moreVertu is a LUXURY brand, not a PREMIUM brand, kiddo.
BMW, Mercedes = premium brand
Roll-Royce, bentley = luxury brand
Gucci, LV = premium brand
Hermes = luxury brand
Apple, Samsung= premium brand
Vertu = luxury brand
Do you get the picture?
It is premium brand if it was mass-produced but selling it with extra PREMIUM price, hence why its called premium product.
Luxury product was mostly created hand made/handcrafted.
You dont have to have triple digits of IQ to understand simple thing like this.
