      Did you mean ViaMusic?

I can't find a music app as professional and smooth as Spotify. The ads are often short and tasteful, I actually enjoy listening to some of them.

I've moved away from Spotify to TIDAL ever since 2020. The high bitrate playback is a major advantage for me. I guess I'll miss out on sharing playlist stats and achievements with other people, but oh well.

Also, there's a free music streaming app called ViMusic. It's basically a 3rd party YT music client but without ads and has background playback.

The record labels are not complaining, because Spotify pays like they should.

The artists are complaining because the record labels are not paying them enough.

And you, like everyone else who hates on Spotify, complain because you don't understand the business arrangement.

ashrobb, 04 Dec 2023I never said they will disappear or something like that. Th... moreCorrection in what way? Spotify is extremely powerful, the conglomerates (Sony + ...) that depends on it, would never let it collapse, because then they will have to do all the "dirty" work from the beginning, making new and complex deals in many jurisdictions, agreements, licenses, paperwork and what not... Spotify own nothing, but they're the first line of defense for those powerful conglomerates. They just deliver the material to your unit. They're under the protection of the "big boys". As if that is not enough, Spotify has currently a solid and loyal, unpaying subscribers base. Their streaming service is being used daily by many people allover the planet...

On a personal level, I feel sorry for the artists/musicians, because they also need to feed their children. I'm not sure selling tickets is enough for them, because most of the ticket's revenue will end up somewhere else and the artists get the remaining peanut. Anyway, what do you suggest average listeners should do to help and support all those creative artists? People like me won't stop using a good quality streaming service like for example the swedish Spotify, because it has unfortunately become part of the DNA of many subscribers. It's the first thing I turn on when I wake up in the morning!

Greedy sh*tty company just like all others doing the same stuff.

They decided to self-ban themselves from Uruguay after the country approved new laws giving more protection to art and artists. Spotify started to make veiled threats to the government and spoke tons of nonsense about how well they treat artists and stuff. Ultimately, they decided to self-ban themselves after lying saying that "it's impossible to continue under these new laws".

Spotify annual profit is counted in billions of dollars. That's why they are lying. They simply don't want to pay and when laws comes to enforce that, they cowardly self-ban from that country.

I hope someone someday makes a decent platform for artists to put their music and earn their money from their hard work.

Funny that a struggling company has no issue signing a sponsor deal worth almost $250 million with a football team. If you want to eat their corporate bs, that's fine. You seem to be invested in it. But this little cocktail they've been mixing will blow up in their faces in due time. You'll see.

I'd love to se how many minutes your brand will survive, if you ever are able to get enough funds to even launch it.

What TF are people here whining about? There are a TON of OSS that serve as Spotify's alternative (ViMusic, Blackhole to list some) if it's only the adverts you wanna get rid of.

And those who want superior audio quality (which isn't there on any modded versions I have came across until now) and Spotify's recommendations, kindly pay for it.
If you can't, then don't dream about it either or cuss the company because you can't.
