Can't wait for everyone in the family group chat to send uncompressed news and "funny" video files exceeding 2GB.

you could send 2 GB files via whatsapp if you had root and changed the limit in the app's build prop file. it has been out for at least a decade

theRajeshV, 05 Dec 2023To those saying it has been available on Android, the same ... moreOn IOS it was cumbersome it was not as easy as Androids method, it joined you to your Airdrop or your itunes, you could not select files DIRECTLY from your phone. On Android you could do it DIRECTLY from ANY file in your phones storage
And you can easily see a preview of the image or video when you select it on Android, not an issue. I could see what images or videos I was selecting by looking at the icon or pressing an icon to play it or preview it

Why is this iOS only?
It's yet another case of not only people, but big third party companies, treating Android users as 2nd class citizens.

I use whatsapp mostly to report scams that pop out, but it's a great upgrade, many social sites ignore.
You buy 2000€ phone or even 7000€ camera, just to realize that your 57Mp picture show up like 1Mp.
Rofl.
BTW, that's also main reason why are torrents so popular.

Whatsapp on Android now allows 2 whatsapp accounts on one app, allowing you to switch between two accounts without relying on app cloning. This is not possible on iOS.

To those saying it has been available on Android, the same was possible on iOS also. Please read the article properly.
What's new is an option to say that the 'document' being sent is an image/video which will allow it to be sent with previews like images/videos sent directly.
