Nick Tegrataker, 12 Dec 2023"it still lacks proper software support" Huh?Well, we're almost in January and magic 4/5 didn't even received the A14, so where's the software support? :)

in terms of smartphone honor > huawei. but, it still lacks proper software support. Chinese brands keep producing unfinished phones everyday. all they care about is spec sheet looks good on paper but, never care about customer experience.

I don't understand why GSMArena sometimes makes stuff up without even doing some basic research about a topic beforehand, but LOFIC isn't the Ominivision equivalent of Sony's stacked sensor, rather it's something to do with the conversion gain.
According to this article:
https://www.mdpi.com/1424-8220/23/9/4478
"A lateral overflow integration capacitor (LOFIC) complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor can realize high-dynamic-range (HDR) imaging with combination of a low-conversion-gain (LCG) signal for large maximum signal electrons and a high-conversion-gain (HCG) signal for electron-referred noise floor."
This is exactly what Omnivision has been doing for years - DCG HDR, which samples the single exposure twice in both low and high conversion gains and then combines the outputs to extend the dynamic range of the final image. LOFIC simply refers to a physical circuit structure that enables this type of readout.

Hector, 11 Dec 2023I know right? it also demands more processing time and phon... more50MP bayer and 50MP quadbayer of same size and same type of photodiodes grab same amount of light ( if both are made by same supplier).
The " binned" mode is just to read faster. Lower resolution looks cleaner because it always does.
50MP bayer downscaled to 10MP for example will be showing less noise/artifacts compared to photo kept at 50MP.
QB is popular because is cheaper to make. Same filter and microlens cover 4 or 9 at once. Far easier than making individual.

That LOFIC technology doesn't sound like Sony's stacked technology at all. In fact, it sounds like the opposite.
Sony's stacked sensor is about improving low light performance and allowing more light to be captured. LOFIC is about improving extremely bright light performance and managing when too much light hits the sensor (i.e. taking photos directly facing the sun).

Magic5 Pro sounded great in many areas, but few things pushed me away. The OS needs to be more customizable , Slippery design, from experience the non branded glass will break more easily than branded ones and for over 1000buck phone it should be branded

Wish phones have Bayer sensor.
All this QB crap just to use frame stacking that is 100x easier at lower resolution.
