I do read the comments and people all look for an alternative motive. All this self repair stuff is not new. It started a couple of years ago on White and Brown goods. EU has legislation called Eco Design Legislation that mandates manufacturers of certain product must enable Self repair to consumers and Professional repairers. It is better for the Brands to lead the legislation and learn from it before it becomes enforced, which it will very soon. I would always recommend an Authorised partner because you get the warranties and they have the experience. Product designs will change to support Self Repair, but not necessarily result is design language going back. These top manufacturers spend billions on R&D to keep it in right direction.

That's why all the phones are so much heavier and no more curve screen, somehow going backwards , very sad.

Any attempt to aid repairs by manufacturers is likely just a way for them to brag about how repairable and green they are. In reality it's bad for business so we'll likely never benefit from it. They protect their interests, we protect ours. When the headache outweighs the quality they'll lose their market share.

all this self adventure and risk is just for saving $15-20 of repair cost? a repair guy is just way more experienced on your device's assembly. no point in destroying your device with those kits.

Which makes buying costlier than outright buying something new by just adding ( to the repair costs+labor)something like less than 100 usd.

Later they're gonna waste a life of a repairer with an unjustified software lock for preventing self repairs.

Absolute robbery, some random person successfully repaired a Samsung S21 phone with official genuine parts from Samsung themselves or any brand whatsoever but screwed by a software lock.
