Given how tightly Apple is doling out sales of this (only in a select few Apple stores, and only after demoing it with trained employees) their sales costs will be quite high, and I'm wondering if they'll even make any profit on this first generation.

    Hardware is ridiculously powerful and time taken into R&D is immense. But worth 3500USD? Not really. More like 2600-2900. Great product idea but rather buy it refurbished. Or if you don't want Apple's ecosystem nor visionOS, HTC Vive and Meta Quest Pro are (good) competitors. A cheaper model is in the works however but you need to wait for that to come around.

        Still going to be more expensive than Meta Quest Pro, but let's see.
