"They are also Smart TVs (with Tizen) and support the Samsung Gaming Hub"
Which you have to buy even if you don't plan to use this functionality ever. Because it was included for extra profi... I mean, for better user experience!

justasmile, 03 Jan 2024Well said bro! LCD is still king of poor brightness, poor b... moreYou're only right on brightness if you really mean contrast/individual pixel brightness. OLEDs still lose badly to LCDs when it comes to full-screen brightness on larger devices like monitors or televisions.

No, it definitely isn't. It still has it's disadvantages that I listed in my previous comment (which are the main reasons for the switch to OLED too), really the only advantages are the cheaper costs for manufacturing and repairing and more natural colours, no PWM (but who cares, PWM is improving till the point that it doesn't really matter).

Oh yeah, and a quick search would tell you: "OLEDs are organic LEDs, which means that their key building blocks are organic (i.e., carbon-based) materials.", so IPS displays are definitely not the only one that is made of organic materials.

justasmile, 03 Jan 2024Well said bro! LCD is still king of poor brightness, poor b... moreAre you living in 1999? IPS is better in every regard compared to oled. The only reason you see the shift in phones is because oled is a fraction of the thickness of an IPS display and these weird OEM's only care about making phones thinner. Ever looked at an IPS display and oled side by side? IPS can male the color white better, oled can make the color black better. Its a tradeoff, and for gaming the IPS wins every time. Not to mention that no oled can last the test of time, they all turn yellow/brown with age because they are organic materials. Just like a chinese led flashlight is only super bright for the first few minutes and then never gets that bright ever again.

360 Hz OLED should be extremely smooth. Very interesting products, can't wait to see more and more of these really high-refresh rate monitors. Begone, 60 Hz - never come back again, you overstayed your welcome.

LCD might be the great option but they would complain like: they look washed out, looks like 2006 vga monitor bla bla bla..

                      What a pity not 16:10...

Darth Caesium, 03 Jan 2024Good job, Samsung. Now do 4K at 27" for your OLED.Exactly. It looks like every 27" to be announced at this year's CES will be QHD, which is a pity. I'm not some pixel peeping freak who would require 4k on a phone screen, but on a 27" display, the difference between QHD and UHD, albeit not significant, simply can be noticed.

I've got to say, even if Samsung monitors are well-specced be generally priced decently, I've never bought one without having to RMA it at least once.

49" is great, but I still have my concern about screen burn-in. Happened several times with OLED display, but never once with IPS LCD display.

Gaming on oled aint gonna happen for a long time. LCD is still king, I wish we still had lcd smartphones.

How is this OLED G9 different from the current OLED G9?

                                      Good.
At least gamers no need to do a 'head exercise' to see the game surroundings.
