Phones are getting back to the lead we had with the s8, but I bet they still won't do what they said they'll bring back ...

SHOUT TO ANSWER. the single best accessibility feature.

Not able to run to your phone? Then shout ANSWER.

The phone will not only answer, but go straight to speaker mode, so you can speak to, and hear the caller.

As someone with mobility issues, running for a ringing phone is not an option.

During android 13 beta, Samsung said they would bring it back.

They didn't with 13, and haven't with 14, unless they're hiding it in 6.1???? Unlikely.

I hate when you don't have an SD card, and have to donate reset, and loose all your stored music/videos.

If you don't have any other device, then you got no other way to store this, so you lose all that content.

Then you got to find your sources again.

I thought once I'd had it stored in Google files, but could never find again.

I don't care about a headphone jack, especially not with the huge choice of earbuds.

    Come on, sort it out.

Every year the same device with tiny improvements... boring.

SixSeis, 13 Jan 2024It's quite simple actually, Samsung spent 3 years with... more"It's quite simple actually, Samsung spent 3 years without changing the secondary sensors, it's past time to use a larger sensor for the ultra wide, it's long past time to improve the 3x sensor that they're going to replace with the 5x on the S24 Ultra,"
And how do you improve that with every generation of phone without finishing up at 2terapixels and nothing to show for it? Hell, some people already complain 200Mp is useless and you think 5 generations of increasing that will be OK?

"it's past time for the cheapest models to have a macro mode,"
That's one generation revolution (of sorts), what about the 2nd and 3 more to go from that?

"Samsung is going to update the screen this year, as it was supposed to be done, but it let everyone get ahead, now they're going to put 2600 nits, just to keep going up slowly in the next updates, where is the variable opening?"
So how bright should it get in 5 generations? What about resolution? Should we all have 8k 7 inch screens 5 years from today so you don't say they stagnate? What after that? 16k screen and 12k nits just so people stop complaining there's no improvement? Is there no place where no further improvement is required because the screen (or any other phone aspect for that matter) is already good enough and requires no bullshit improvements just for the sake of not being called stagnating? If 2100 nits is easily readable in full sun, why do you need more? To piss off everyone at the cinema where in complete darkness you pull out your douche-mobile (see what I did there? :D) and blind everyone inside the radius of this solar system to read your bloody Facebook notification? Are you going to read GSMArena 2 inches away from a bomber sky lights of the London WW2? When enough is enough?

"And it's past time to have more than 12mb, it let Apple take the lead, as in 2019 it already had the Mi Note 10 that took photos with 27mb, it's past time for Androids to have a competing solution for the smartphone's lidar sensor."
12 milibits? I seriously don't understand what you mean. And what technology do you recon should beat the lidar up and leave Apple in the dust? Come on, my question was specific enough.

"Apple because the tof never seems to change, besides, Samsung took forever to record in 4K at 120fps, something that Sony has done for a long time,"
That's not the answer to my question.

"don't get it wrong, Samsung manages to be good in all aspects, it's well balanced, but It's nothing innovative, I don't expect a revolution, I hope it adapts to its competitors, it's the least a sensible person would think."
While I agree with the adaptation bit (especially when it comes to charging speed), I'm sorry to be hard on you, but it's you who thinks revolution each generation is something so easy to do that the only reason Samsung doesn't invent bending screens-like revolution every year is because they're lazy. Whereas in your response, I see NO examples of a revolutionary technology that could be applied to a generation-to-generation dramatic leap, let alone 5 generations to go. It's almost as if revolutionizing mobile phones every year is plain impossible. Nah, that can't be it, surely Samsung's just complacent.

That said, I really, really like these new renders of the S24U, but the most important question is the real feel when you actually have it in hand. Note20 Ultra especially has that wow factor because it's so incredibly thin it's mind-boggling. I don't get that shiver with the S21U, it's fat and has round corners, altough its camera housing design is incredible. But it's not enough to get the trophy from me and I think from most design enthusiasts.

SixSeis, 10 Jan 2024If we keep looking at small changes and saying "it... moreOK, but what sort of revolution do you expect, and yearly at that.
Can you think of five revolutionary things to introduce in the next five years, with every phone generation, that are akin to curved edge screen of the old Samsung Note or foldable screen panels? Look how long it took Samsung to R&D foldable tech to a more-or-less deliverable tech, and even that's debatable.
And no, you can't wish an atomic battery that lasts 100 years - realistically achievable technology from the bucket of tech available to day, or - at most - a patented and tested tech, that may not be mass-available yet.
                              Get ready. Set. Go!

dcdev, 11 Jan 2024I use S23U and want to see progress. Where is it? x5 50mp... moreI think the 5x zoom will work, and probably better than in the old phone.
The 10MP 10x zoom sensor works exactly the same as the 50MP 5x sensor, where zooming past the specified zoom is done by cropping the image from the sensor.
That means the "native" 5x of the 50MP sensor is not the absolute maximum it can achieve and further zooming while cropping the image should still produce at least the same level, if not better, images than in the case of the old sensor.
Of course, we'll see when it's put through its paces, but the crying about the sensor before it can be even put through its paces is just lame and should stop, especially that none of you realizes the increased sensor pixel count can actually spell better images.
                                Just wait, for god's sake.

x3 and uw are same, only 10mp and 12mp.
Oppo uses 1/1.56" for tele, 1" for main.

It's a shame for this price.
And gcam takes better photos, not oversrarped.

Worst thing on a phone is a curved screen what can be worse if the screen touch is even more responsive every even acidental touch make playing games complete dissaster.
