I rather spend on traveling than saving for nothing. Visiting world is so nice.
In moth going to Dominican republic for 10 days vacation. Trip from Slovakia plus 5 star hotel is 1500 a person. All i am ever worrying is a 16 hours of 3 flights until i reach Punta Cana capitol of Dominican republic.

        I was kidding for fun.

E-sim should be broadly available, i think.
As satelite era might come soon, data connectivity can be accessed from buying e-sim plans.
It will help users at last.
Cause in today's era it's less headache than earlier years but still headache to buy sim and recharge in new country, lol.
Although wifi is available almost many places nowadays but still esim data purchase would be more helpful.

These global eSIM providers are almost never useful for local use, but good for travel.

.alpha, 13 Jan 2024eSIM is simply tourist tax on American and European as most... moreTrue, $30 for 10GB is expensive in most countries. However if you are only one or two days in a country and need 1GB eSIM for some $5 is a great hassle-saver.

No need to fight with shit airport wifi, queue to some desk and argue with the agents trying to use the tourist as bank and sell expensive unneeded services.

And $5 isn't even money for that. My airport coffees on the way cost more.

I'm often doing short trips for leisure or work and also often visit countries for less than 24h during overnight layovers. Then the eSIMs are great.

For longer trips I still get the local SIM, like now for a month in Indonesia or next two months in Thailand. Finnish winter was too cold. :)

Cpt.Power, 12 Jan 2024Well i trvel the world when comes to vacation usually visit... moreWell, I call EU my home so I don't even count how many EU countries I visit during a year. Dozen at the least every year, mostly one-two day visits and multiple per country. EU free roaming (well 37GB/month, which is basically free unless you are streaming mule porn 24/7 or doing other stupid things like Netflix on mobile data) is a standard at least for us Finns.

However I also do visit a dozen outside EU countries a year and always get a local sim. These eSIM services are nice nowadays, as they save the effort of queuing for a local SIM on short trips. I was just two days to Morocco with Airalo, one day in Indonesia, will be some days in Vietnam and so on.

For longer visits it's cheaper to get a local sim and I do, but for a couple of days I don't bother anymore. Five dollars to Airalo for 1GB/7day is less than my coffee, just to have free internet already when the plane lands.

eSIM is simply tourist tax on American and European as most countries around the world have phone service way cheaper than USD $30 for 10 GB. Getting eSIM before a trip is like paying 500 pesos for a 200 pesos taxi ride because you don't have smaller bill

Apple is pushing eSIM service like Airalo because App Store is getting a 30% cut on what you paid

Wow, a random company that is diversifying into something actually useful instead of vague shoehorned-in AI? Shocking!

FastBSHunter, 12 Jan 2024Being a network provider - whether broadband or mobile data... moreAccording to Vykintas Maknickas, Head of product strategy at Nord Security, Saily will ensure users don't need to use public Wi-Fi networks that they are not comfortable with. Customers will be able to choose from "hundreds of countries and dozens of plans" to get a deal on mobile data.

it is not offering what it appears to offer at first sight. You are NOT replacing unsecured Wi-Fi with another but Wi-Fi with a network MVNO, Mobile Virtual Network Operators at whatever G 3G, 4G, 5G that Nord VPN is attached to.

Even though free and lets say it is "dubious" it may already be encrypted, you would should be able to see this when accessing

This essentially is NORD becoming an MVNO expanding from a VPN service provider
