Zendroid, 14 Jan 2024Amazing! Other brands had that option for decades. Considering it is a Google's own brand it should be suspricing they are doing this cause its one of the ways they use to embrace their search engine even more

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2024A feature that long existed on third party launchers. Got it. Well I guess this site is visited by people with varying degrees of ignorance from the absolute zero Darling Yext to this character who think? (barely) emoji X is power
FYI THIS BY "ANONYMOUS" COMMENT IS CORRECT

I myself was aware of a part of the story, but wasn't aware of the restrictions until I tested it moments ago.

Chrome is almost never used by me on my mobile, I mainly use Firefox and Edge internet and YES you can change them. In Firefox the default is Google however right next to the Google icon is a drop down icon, on Edge Bing is the default which you can also change in settings.

Without any safety equipment, or body double I ventured into Chrome and "discovered" you CAN'T change it to another search engine the only way is to Search for that
search engine and then use it

I'm gonna conflate this with another story, why is Google laying off staff at the same time as paying Apples $10 billion PER YEAR.
Additionally only in the DOJ case will the exact figures be known $10 bn is a 'conservative' figure up to $18 Bn for quite possibly 10 years.***

People searching want their information now, they may then change to another after maybe, but almost expect / know it's Google. I haven't changed the default search engine Firefox Google, Edge Bing.

*** No wonder adverts saturation covers content.

Too boring. Samsung is much better to be honest.

It's a hidden menu. Meaningless. This would only be significant if Google is required to have user select their preference during first time setup.

Oh, and still nobody, not even the EU, noticed that Google forcing OEMs to bundle Chrome to get Android certifications as anti competitive.

Amazing! Other brands had that option for decades.

                Nice grammar there.

I wish we can just remove the search bar entirely. Making a cleaner homepage. I barely used Google search on my home screen anyways.

I wish we can change the search bar to another 3rd party search bar too like Firefox one or "Pixel Search" app.
