Sony Semicon needs few years to make it mainstream.
Also, many brands may not be willing to pay the much higher costs.

Looks good hope the price wont be 3500 or so.
People like me would rather buy Metavertu gen 2 than 3500 eur folding phone.

IpsDisplay, 16 Jan 2024I'll say this omnivision top of the line premium senso... more1) you need to check DNG, not jpeg. Jpeg does not provide what sensor can do.

          2) you need comparison to be done using same device (same phone) with same software. It is pointless and dumb to use different phones as example.

Not even samsung and canon can come close to sony, let alone omnivision.
You say because you think company is from CN, when it was created in USA.

Only Xperia 1/5 mark 5, iphones 15/15+ and N3/Open have this tech.

Using transistor layer below pixel layer instead of side by side, increase light sensitivity by 50% at least. This without the downsides of those other CFAs like WRGB, RYYB, RGBE, CYYM.
Power consumption is reduced as well compared to Exmor RS.

            Imx789and its new version LYT-808 (both 52MP 1/1.35" , effective 48MP 1/1.43") cannot provide same results from Imx888(Lyt-800) and Lyt-T808.

              🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sony has over 50% of smartphone sensor market, also more than 40% if you count all applications (cameras, cars, medical, mobile, industry, security).

Omnivision (created in California by chinese) does not have capacity to even take as much orders as sony.

The Porsche brand is unnecessary as it would only add cost to the already expensive phone.

I'll say this omnivision top of the line premium sensors can go head to head with any Sony smartphone sensor

I forgot the name of the omnivision sensor used in Xiaomi ultra smartphone couple years back it was THEE number 1 camera sensor

                        Interesting.

neo, 16 Jan 2024I would rather have the 48MP Sony LYT-T808 “Pixel Stacked” ... moreI don't think so, pixel stacking gets close maybe, but not THAT close, the gulf between 1/1.43" and 1 inch is MASSIVE. You can't beat raw hardware. What I think is happening is that the pixel stacked sensor somehow is able to provide more information through more data in the pixels that can be used/noise reduced images and more data being available such as multiple frames of the same shot in different exposure times. I don't think it's rocket science cus it's available in Mirrorless cameras as well but it's not that big of a deal. Sony's and Oppo's marketing is top notch tho gotta give em that

My respect for Omnivision has improved drastically. They don't just go for high megapixels OR big sensors. Unlike Samsung. After making the GN2 Samsung just went for megapixels. Omnivision is a true business, like they cater to both markets and thus profit a lot whilst providing quality products. Heck their sensor being used in the X100 Pro is just bloody amazing. Keep up the good work OV. We need this competition, Sony'll be forced to improve further otherwise OV will overtake them and we as consumers will benefit as one day hopefully Samsung will go for larger sensors for all their cams. Like Samsung sensors are just an afterthought now, take the Samsugn JN1, it's just used as cheaper UW cam.

Pixel sensors are very close to a 1-inch sensor in terms of quality. and above all they are not that big!!!

So, after all, the Porsche Design will actually bring some even better camera hardware than the Pro, unlike the Magic 5 Ultimate, which was just a fancy Magic 5 Pro? Well that's good, making it more worth the extra money
