Anonymous, 27 Jan 2024You don't understand, people buy iPhones because their... morenah man, it's like, everyone has a certain idea about the iphone in their heads and thinks they are better and honestly, after the 13 series they are. There's nothing much separating Apple and Samsung users now in the top end flagship so people just choose whichever they find cooler and most find Apple cooler. Besides, once someone goes into Apple they usually don't go back, everyone in my family used to have android and are using iPhones now. I'm the only one and honestly I want to switch to anything but the phone I'm using, the S22 Ultra, a huge waste of money especially after something like the Oneplus 12. You do you my friend though.

If people actually bought iPhones because there were better, then no one would be picking an iPhone 11, 12, 13 in 2023 then. People just naturally prefer apple because of the Exclusive apps (FaceTime, iMessage,tv etc) not because their generally better.

IDC should compare Apple phones to all Android phones, not just one manufacturer. It would seem that the other Android phone makers are having success biting into Samsung's market share. Possibly Pixels are having some marketshare gains, at least in the western world.

Yeah king with many limits just like kings in real life who can't do anything themselves. Samsung is and will be the king. If you don't know S24 series will get 7 major updates. So Apple has nothing special.

because sammy seems to settle down (until s24 announcement?) that other makers are getting more of the pie - pixel, magic series, x series, find series, mate series... and for the budget segment, transsion has improved a lot...

Samsung was getting too comfortable on their perch and is increasing getting locked out of the North American market. They are not getting smeared by US media or under the threat of US sanctions like Chinese smartphone makers. They have control of almost the entire supply chain including the SOC and should be doing much better than they are now.

It has been mentioned by analysts that aggressive trade in values for old iPhones and price cuts from Apple is encouraging people to upgrade their phones even when they don't need to. It also means that Apple is subsidising the purchase of the new iPhone 15 series by consumers and explains their tanking share price as that means they make less money from each sale.

And/Or IOS widely described as simpler, privacy friendly, the user first experience combined with high trade inn values in the US. Let me explain an Iphone 15 pro costs 420$ + iphone 14 pro (till January) so traders buy an iphone 14 pro in that condition for "570$ + apple profit" and sell it for more of course. Anyway dominance in the secondhand market attributes to high sales we see today as well to future "new" sales. Samsung took 26% in 2022. In the premium segment Apple and Samsung launch their phones at the same moment in all markets. Sony and Oppo I don't think so, Vivo China only, Xiaomi is capable of doing that but Xiaomi. The decline in the worldwide smartphone market, the shrinking of the sub premium segment and the rise of the premium segment (6% in 2016 risen to 15% in 2019, standstill in 2020, risen again to 24% in 2023 hit Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi hard. The people previously involved in adapting and re-engineering phones for local markets are all working for the Indian market. In their homeland they ask premium prices for top of the line phones all of those having better and or more exciting hardware in the camera department than Samsung & Apple. As enough Chinese customers see those phones as ultrapremium they can and will ask the ultrapremium price for a new Vivo 110/120, Oppo Find X11/12, Xiaomi 15/59
