justasmile, 23 Jan 2024Goodbye 1-inch hype, just take a look at what OnePlus has!OnePlus 12? Not much.
Certainly nothing close to the capabilities of 1-inch sensors...

Sony when they launched the LYTIA lineup made lots of confusion about the double stacked layers. Make no mistake, the LYTIA LYT-808 in the OP12 is still a traditional Exmor-RS sensor like the IMX890 and others, so nothing fancy. It was known as the IMX966 before the official LYTIA lineup launch.

The OnePlus Open however DOES have the Exmor-T based LYTIA LYT-T808, which is basically the IMX888 from the Xperia 1 V. Remember that Exmor-T sensors are also more expensive due to their new double stacked layers.

rizki1, 23 Jan 2024Better phone to get than S24. With camera specifications li... moreBetter than the S24 Plus (although that has a FAR better design), but, the base S24 is smaller and appeals to many people. Also, it's available almost everywhere around the world, unlike OnePlus.

I cannot understand why this is not a Find X7 Ultra in a OnePlus body. Or, they should do a Pro model with the X7 Ultra camera system and everything. Why is OnePlus afraid of going full-tilt? Oppo do not plan to release the Find X7 series outside China, OnePlus should take the opportunity and do it instead.

They straight up say that the LYT808 captures 50% more light than the IMX890. The sensor is only 25% bigger.

How do you think they get 50% more light with only 25% more area?

Nick Tegrataker, 23 Jan 2024I assume Oppo and OnePlus are very likely working together ... moreYeah. Oneplus in their China promotion materials and launch event stated this this year the Oppo Find camera team are also optimising the Oneplus 12. This is the first time they have announced this. Also for their cheaper phones like the Oneplus Ace 3 which they launched recently they made no mention of this so its most likely a different camera team (not the Oppo Find series team) working on their other models and previous Oneplus flagships.

they also make no mention of that extra sensor in the 4th hole... people are still guessing what it is, and how the camera uses it

With camera specifications li... moreThey are totally different types of phones but yeah the camera hardware is a bit better on this. Whether its cameras actually perform better remains to be seen though. People who like small and light phones have few options so the S24 still has a market. There are basically no other current android flagship phones with its form factor in many markets. Both are targeting a different type of consumer. For people who like small phones the s24 would be better. For people that like large phones this would be better.

Super wide is same imx581, the weakest of imx58X series .
                      One of the first quadbayers.

Should have got 589 instead. It is 2 years newer. Also, it has better video skills.

What a miracle, gsmarena stopped claiming 808 as dual layer like T808.
Took so long to realize that.
                          Wow .....

The green color is stunning :)

Better phone to get than S24. With camera specifications like this, it is already above the S24.

Goodbye 1-inch hype, just take a look at what OnePlus has!

jiyen235, 23 Jan 2024One thing I don't see people talking about much for On... moreI assume Oppo and OnePlus are very likely working together for imaging development (The cameras on OnePlus Open and Find N3 perform almost identically with a few exceptions), so it is likely OP12's cameras are going to behave a lot more like the Find X7 series than OP11.

One thing I don't see people talking about much for Oneplus phones is how close they get to what the eyes see in terms of color and exposure. I really dig that and respect Oneplus's style for that. The processing itself might not be class leading but for the price I don't think people will complain much. I just wish Oneplus got more help from Oppo or something to tune their software or just copied their algorithms or something, their noise processing and detail retrieval is fantastic since the Find X6 Pro, as shown in the Find N3. The only thing I think these phones suck at is a high contrast background with a human subject, weirdly these phones produce a glow/halo, hope it's just a random quirk that can get fixed later on, if not then welp time to use the pro mode for those shots lol

I wonder if it will come with the same HyperTone algorithms that Oppo uses? Early photo samples from Find X7 Pro show a fairly remarkable improvement in colour/WB and tonal adjustment over Find X6 Pro, I really wish OnePlus would send an OTA update to include it in case it doesn't receive one at the launch.

That "T" in model No. matters.
