I'm pretty sure anyone stealing a phone is only interested in wiping it and selling (or using) it...

Nowadays thieves sell the phone parts than the whole phone itself.. i think even the parts should talk to processor to identify if it's stolen or genuine part.. just food for thought..

LazyEngineer, 23 Jan 2024A decade later and Android still doesn't have any devi... moreI totally agree.
I don't know why your comment has been due voted, at least offer a reason why.
Thieves quickly resell stolen phones.
I don't have a workable suggestion that might work but it is a combination of locations always being on the phone completely locked by owner for all services
As long as phones can be stolen and used without the possibility of detection they will be stolen and stolen aggressively.

you have to suffer, 23 Jan 2024None of them. Are u Serious or just Joking?
Pls file-out your reasons, you have enough space to do that here.
Personally at my finance level, I won't do it, even when the fund is available, it rather go somewhere else to settle some more relevant issues.
If those pockets thinks the are capable enough to afford, probably he/she should lay hands on either and see the outcomes for themselves, I've been in such dilemma before when I lay hands on the base iphone 12, then I knew what the experienced ones meant by "prison OS", though I cherish the easy system set up but alot of odds along too.

Fortunately, most thieves are Apple fans.
They are not the brightest out there and only recognise certain brand.

Samsung prolly has no incentive to add that because if you dropped ANY phone in Korea, you just retrace your steps and you get your phone back. So, a 99.99999% retrieval rate. Nice country btw.

I don't even get statled by this type of news, because my Samsung find my mobile has been so useful, I couldn't even believe it when I lost my phone and I found it after3 days because I was able to track it and later found it.
So Samsung has this feature that doesn't let you power off a phone that doesn't belong to you so far as it on screen, it will always prompt you to put a password before you off the phone.
And it could actually track both online and offline

A decade later and Android still doesn't have any device theft protection features......
The only thing you can do on Android is to use Google find my device to either locate device or securely erase device hoping that criminal haven't removed simcard or simply turned off mobile data and GPS location by simply swiping down quick settings from lock screen!
Yes you can disable Data, Bluetooth and location from quick settings on vanilla pixel 7 as there is no settings to disable that unlike Samsung and others.

Oh Yeah!! The Savior Of Our Time
Google should follow suit else Sammy will Do, Single handedly without permission.
I love it when Sam do things undermining side talks about their decision of copying what is useful. Else the prison OS still frks me out.

I can see this causing headaches in IT. I have older co-workers that forget their Apple ID password every time it comes to updating a company-required app. Now that process can potentially be delayed by an additional hour.
