You can have even a 600 Mpix shooter made by samsung will came to the light of the world in 2025 still if it will be your only camera on phone nobody apart very few individuals will want such a phone with such single camera and no other camera on board.

Feanor12, 19 Feb 2024How about Nokia 808 PureView? Or Lumia 1020?
I really miss... moreIn that time and year they were good but that was back then now its 2024 those phones are way too behind.
Even a lowcost Xiaomi redmi 13C do better photos than Nokia 808 Pureview.

Nonetheless, I guess that the focal length will be smaller than 19.4mm.

I am looking to see if the Ultrawide will do Panoramas. Quad-bayer recent sensors all seem to refuse this ability in the software fitted to the phones that have them. THis could be that the lenses are too wide 12mm-14mm equivalents to allow for on the go stitching, but I would much prefer a non-distorting ultrawide anyway, and one that CAN do excellent panoramas.
It is like waiting for an EV that recharges itself as it goes....

I think this is similar to how US blocks Nvidia from selling leading edge AI chips. China is preventing the highest config phones from being exported :-)

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2024No longer care as I doubt it will come to the UK.Im using the Chinese version of the 13U in the UK and it works fine. No issues with reception or import fees and shipping was only 3 days, whilst paying a half the price for a comparable phone to the UK flagships.

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2024I hate this US ban on chinese phones like this and Huawei, ... moreHuawei and ZTE, mainly because they're also in the Telecom industry. Oppo (or BBK rather) and Xiaomi aren't affected.

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2024I hate this US ban on chinese phones like this and Huawei, ... moreThere is no US ban on Xiaomi phones. They just have decided not to enter the US market for business reasons. Same with OPPO. Oppo for example even sells their Oneplus brand in the US. Only Huawei is banned

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2024Omnivision offers a 50 megapixel 19mm² sensor (0.612 microm... moreI want to add that there is also the Sony Lyt500 sensor, a 50 megapixel 18mm² sensor (pixel size 0.6 micrometer).
In order to have enough pixels per object, tele cameras need a high focal length/pixel size ratio.
That's one of the most important specifications for the tele capabilities.
That's why smartphone tele cameras often use sensors with 0.7 micrometer pixels, the Xiaomi 13T Pro and 14 Pro even use 0.61 micrometer and 0.64 micrometer pixels. It's possible that future smartphone tele cameras will switch to 0.6 micrometer or even 0.56 micrometer pixels instead of 0.7.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2024120mm ( FF equiv) It's also possible that the periscope camera has 50 megapixels, but they crop it in order to achieve 120mm and still falsely advertise 50 megapixels. The Xiaomi 14 Pro actually has a 50 megapixel 67mm camera, but they use a 75mm crop and advertise it as a 50 megapixel 75mm camera even though a 75mm crop only has 40 megapixels.
