Performance is in this order ARM7 < ARM9 < ARM11 < ARM Cortex A5 < ARM Cortex A7 < ARM Cortex A8 < ARM Cortex A9 < ARM Cortex A12 < ARM Cortex A15. All the current generation of processors are based on 'Cortex' series.

    When I compare Cortex A12 with my home-PC CPU, Core2Duo, I see few same specs and most of them better than my CPU. OFC, PC CPUs will always be more reliable with less bugs and slowdowns (process overload, regardless to No of cores), but as I can see, a mobile phone that will contain A12 and solid GPU unit can beat my own PC in performance (OMG).

      even my dual core A9 with sgx540 are serving my purpose well.. butter smooth n 1080p video decoding and encoding. .. gaming also lag free...
      seems A9 aren't that bad after all.. A15 are crap in power management... Kraits are good in this department though. .. my next device will have a snapdragon

        @60 fps ?? nice

          etre, 03 Jun 2013Revealed "just" in time to quench any the rumors ... moreAgreed. Release window are way off. Unless A12 are actually planned to go head to head against the likes of MediaTek, Rockchip and Allwinner SoCs etc at prices.

            AnonD-3678, 03 Jun 2013ARM is under threat. A15 fails the expectation and Intel is... moreWouldn't mind Windows 8 on mobile (Intel x86).

              Revealed "just" in time to quench any the rumors raising around the A15 core (that is not power efficient, big.LITTLE not working properly, etc)

              But mid 2014 is too far, Qualcomm and Intel ar not loosing time.

                don't you just love competition ?

                but i have to say arm's core naming strategy is just plain retarde...you have arm11, then arm 6, then 7, then 8, then 9 , then 15....i can't even put all of them in the proper order based on power....
                now you get 12 >15>9>7>8>6>11 ?
