Galaxy S24 users are facing Android Auto issues with some cars

03 February 2024
Apparently, the issues lie with the car manufacturer’s infotainment software.

I upgraded from Galaxy S9+ to Galaxy S24+ and google maps/bluetooth not working as it should.

I have the same cars (2022 Ram 1500 and 2015 Toyota Highlander). When connected via bluetooth to either car calls and audio works well. But in order to hear google navigation via car's speakers i have to have car's audio set to audio source "bluetooth". So if i am listening to car's radio google map navigation won't play thru car's speakers or phone speakers. My old phone would still transmit google navigation guidance via car's speakers and if i turned off radio completely my old phone (Galaxy S9+) would play navigation guidance via phone speakers. It used to always work on my old phone no matter if i listened to FM radio or bluetooth or XM radio or if radio was off phone would still provide guidance via it's own phone speakers.

I can still listen to google map audio via phone speakers if i disconnect from car's bluetooth but then i will not be able to make/receive calls thru bluetooth either. It defeats the purpose of having a bluetooth. This is a terrible downgrade.

I am tech savvy. I turned on/off all the settings (cars and google maps and phone) and I didn't find adjustment for this issue. Playback in both cars is the same.

What's even worse with the current bluetooth is it lacks separate volume adjustment for navigation vs music playback. Example. If i listen to music low the google maps navigation audio will also be low. If i increase the navigation so i can hear it well music playback also increases and Vice-versa. This is really annoying. Often times i want low music but i want navigation to interrupt the music louder so i don't miss the turn or whatever guidance.

Old phone (Galaxy S9+) had all above options and they worked well.

Does Samsung have a phone update for this? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I am very unhappy about this.

I have solved this problem. Just go to play store and type android auto. Uninstall the same. Then an update option will popup, just press update. Try connecting again and it will connect 😊.

Have had the same issue since s23u. Sent it back after it updated and never worked again. Only had the phone a few months. Unsurprisingly CarPlay works every time. Not trolling just my use case.

Zadrigo, 03 Feb 2024Or just skip Samsung.Just don't use Android Auto. Simple.

The option of unlocking the lock screen via pin without tapping OK is missing in settings 😢
                  And it's a software bug.
If someone has this option, just renew your pin and then see

My Ford haven't any problems with my S24U and the wireless AA good luck for that 👍🏻

I've had my S24 Ultra now for about 10 days and I've been blown away with this beast of a phone. Zero issues with my Android Auto in my 21 F-150 too btw.

i have face the same issue with S24 ultra plus huge battery drain , i even reset my car's infotainment system but the issue still persist

even on s23 ultra before i had some random disconnect issue !

moved to iphone as its not facing any of the mentioned issues

i think android needs to focus on the basics first as this is not acceptable

You can get the bad update after you use the new phone for half a year or a year or in 2 years after. Worse is if you have a phone on it's last update then you probably wont even get hot fix update for the last update that made the phone issues.

It's the updates everyone want and talk about. Samsung 4 OS updates plus 5 years of security or Apple 5 years of updates. All talk about the updates being special to have

Had the same issue with S23 Ultra and Skoda Scala 2022. Reported to Skoda on May 2023, fixed in December 2023. Now my S23 Ultra works with AA cable and wireless. It may be that S24 users should not have the issue if software is up to date.

That's why you should never buy a phone the next day after release. Buy after two months. Give them some time to fix issues.
