Wouldn't it have made more sense for the keyboard to slide out like on the Sidekick?
I mean this thing is impractically small and blocks the screen.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2024S6 was the 1st step to iphonecize the galaxy S lineup.
😒at that time, people gave Samsung a huge backslash and they backtracked.
But it seems people tend to forget whats good and now they are complacent enough to pay the same price for less features.

I was torn between Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. Though their screens are the same Watch 6 has noticeable big black bezel while Watch 6 Classic has full screen with cool rotating bezel. So it is full screen inside the metal. Much better.

I know that it is unprofitable and that people are used to typing on screens, but honestly, when I see the stunts people do to hit a letter and how girls bend their fingers because of their long nails, in order to stab the sensitive screen, we will all have crooked fingers for one generation.
but i loved qwerty on lg and sony-ericsson phones

TBH, I'm glad physical keyboard went away and now we have virtual touch keyboard, where it is highly customizable and have smart software to automagically adjust the target presses depending on what you're typing. Back then, I could never use a Blackberry nor any phone with a physical keyboard as I have stubby fingers. It's impossible to type anything accurately with decent enough speed. Using a regular keypad with T9 was faster for me. Thank goodness for touch keyboard of today.

I have been using the FxTec Pro1 since 2019, and I know that some of the users of that are visually impaired.
And yes yes that has gone out of production too, and FxTec -to say the least- struggles to deliver the successor the Pro1X. And we are some that really hope they survive and creates a 'Pro2' - but that is all a long sad store out of scope here.

You buy it from the Clicks website.

The Samsung solution is definitely more refined and intelligent than the humongous thing ǝlddɐ is selling. "Normal pockets are 1½ feet deep, right?"

Vegetaholic, 11 Feb 2024Physical keyboards it's just waste of space, we all kn... moreWell sure this is the case for the majority of users, primarily using a phone for talk, browsing and images, where the fake touch keyboard are sufficient for the relatively rare entering short texts.
But for those of us where it is a productive tool with email and sms as the primary function, a real keyboard is infinitely better than the fake ones.
But I agree it is a niche product and not a mass product.
Another niche is the one hand fully operable device, that is not mediocre (or worse).
We are some that do not always have both hands free for a phone.
I do not see the point in a zillion almost identical device from various vendors, fitting a majority only. Let us have variety covering various niches also.
Different people - different needs. :)

Yeah, not worth the sacrifice of screen space just for the physical keyboard.
