People here don't realize that this is different than usual screen protector modes and glove modes, which have been around for like a decade... this is adaptive, at least I haven't seen this on any phone.

I already have it enabled on my Pixel 6a running Android 14. The option for screen protector mode has been there since Android 13.

Are they going to finally figure out why older people's fingers aren't always noticed by the touch sensors? Whether it's due to drier skin, calloused skin, or whatever it is that we have to hit widgets more than once, or search for the perfect angle to get the intended character on the keyboards...?
And "Adapt" to those issues with a setting selection in the screen settings or accessibility settings?

dcdev, 11 Feb 2024Are GN top sensors from Samsung? I think no, by their spec... moreWell, I am not denying HP sensors are flagships. I am just saying GN sensors are too in flagship level. And calling them trash just beacuse of small difference in sensor size is lame (1/1'' vs 1/.131''). You don't need cutting edge hardware to pull great results as proved by Pixel 3's IMX 355. Some photographers say it still preserves more tonal range than even their present phones sice they used the same-ish sensor until Pixel 5, therefore every ounce of potential was squeezed of it.
                  Peace:)

I think no, by their specs HP are top sensors.
And HP are not so good. 200MP is marketing.
Gcam config creator checked S23U and Xiaomi 13U and wrote that 13U has better sensors than S23U.

dcdev, 11 Feb 2024Omg, Samsung uses not best sensors, no 1-inch, small sensor... moreThen why are you calling it trash sensor? Recent Pixels literally use Samsing GN sensors. These sensors are flagship ones. Depending on only sensor size is quite lame. OIS type, optics quality, sensor focus area, focusing type, etc are some vital features for flagships. Sensors size only depends if the deviation is quite high like APSC to Medium Format.
Pixel's do produce some of the best stills these days, as shown in MKBHD's experiment. Even MKBHD as an Apple biased agrees Pixel produces one of the best stills.
                      Peace-

"it will boost sensitivity when it's cold, so you can use the phone with your gloves on, or it will lower sensitivity on a rainy day"

The last thing I want a machine to do is decide how it wants to get input from the user. If the phone does a miscalculation and reduces the sensitivity, it will impact whether the user will be able to make use of the phone.

Can you understand that pixel does good photos by software firstly, not hardware?
For example, Samsung can take good photos with gcam.
Samsung uses most expensive sensors, but trash camera software.
Xiaomi 13U uses better camera sensors than S23U and Pixel 8 Pro, but not so good software, too.
                          Is it clear?

Why? Because google try to make a cool phone from trash (chipset, camera sensors) and sell it as a flagman.

This should be baked in since long ago. Even old xperia Z or T series from 2012 / 2013 had a glove mode.
