and of those 1k, 999 are weather apps. like on playstore there are really no quality apps apart from the ones already preinstalled

Until this handset is going to solve the mass' s problem then they can't be mainstream product. For Mere time pass and fun purpose or limited AR practicality, no one is going to spend this huge money.

How many of these apps are iOS apps just made to run in a floating 2D window, totally not adapted or taking advantage of what this "spatial computing" thing is supposed to be about?
Having an iPad strapped to your face isn't going to be enough to get this thing off the ground.
