Darth Caesium, 19 Feb 2024Tell that to Huawei, who are rumoured to use a 1" inch... moreIt is fake.
1) only the Art has imx989, the Pro has OV50h. Vanilla probably with 1/1.5 or ov50h too.
2) super wide is not imx989.

trivik12, 19 Feb 2024Putting multiple 1" sensor makes zero sense. It would ... moreYou can have single cam phone with like 13 - 75mm.
But:
- there will not be space enough for something more than 1/2".
- zoom system is larger/thicker than fixed FL system that uses same sensor.
- this costs more than using fixed FL (reason no one but sony bothers to use).
In the end, price of stuff is reason many things prototypes have but are cut from final device.

Darth Caesium, 19 Feb 2024They really should've done this for the rear cameras:
... moreDual 1" would eat the whole inner space. Phone would need to come without any type of cooling and much smaller battery.
When someone says for example 1/1.3" , this is only the portion of sensor that light reaches, it does not count frames of the sensor. These frames sometimes are as large as the rest of the sensor.

Darth Caesium, 19 Feb 2024They really should've done this for the rear cameras:
... morePutting multiple 1" sensor makes zero sense. It would bloat the phone even more. Once we can have variable zoom then hopefully we could have a phone with 1 main camera covering 0.5x-3x. That would make it optimal phone for sure.
While use of other cameras are there in specific use case, having a great primary camera with good lens and fast aperture is critical. I have mi 13 pro and main camera takes great photos and even portraits. I think 14 ultra should be better especially in low lights and portraits.

I really hope up they will ramp up the software game. Processing is still quite behind and can't catch up even despite the superior hardware solutions.

Nick, 19 Feb 2024Both 1+ and Xiaomi need to improve their software first. Be... moreOneplus is near stock android experience and is flawless.
Apart pure android experience phones like Sony, Google, Motorola and Nokia you wont find better OS.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra got their new Hyper OS which is also near stock android experience and thus way better than useless bloatware in Samsung phones or with old MIUI.

Darth Caesium, 19 Feb 2024They really should've done this for the rear cameras: ... moreThe 120mm periscope lens has a f2.5 aperture so they did make an improvement there but the 3.2x one appears to be the same as last year except for macro capabilities.

David 040882, 19 Feb 2024Was still more hyped for the OnePlus 12 than for the Xiaomi... moreSee my comment exactly right below this one. The cameras could still be improved, but not negotiating with Corning to use Gorilla Glass Armour for the screen and not using the composite fibre material used on the Xiaomi Mix Fold3 for the back is another big problem. They can't even do the bare minimum here.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2024Go back to samsung screen, the E7 like Vivo X100 Ultra.
N... moreThey really should've done this for the rear cameras:
•LYT-900 on the main cam with a 24mm lens rather than 23mm (ik it's difficult but come on, they have more space to work with than other flagships thanks to the thickness), give it a ten-step variable focal aperture ranging from f/1.4-f/4.0 like Huawei does on its main camera
•LYT-900 (or LYT-808T if not possible) on the ultrawide with a 12mm lens, retain macro capabilities, give it a ten-step variable focal aperture ranging from f/1.4-f/4.0 like the main camera
•LYT-600 on the telephoto, with a 72mm lens instead of 75mm, retain f/2.5, make it a periscope and retain macro capabilities
•Retain IMX858 on the periscope telephoto and retain its 120mm lens, change focal aperture to f/2.8, give it macro capabilities
•Retain same ToF 3D sensor
And this for the front-facing selfie cameras:
•LYT-500 for the main selfie camera with a 24mm lens, retain f/2.0 focal aperture
•LYT-500 for the ultrawide selfie camera with a 12mm lens, give it an f/2.0 focal aperture
•ToF 3D, same as the one on the rear
If it's going to cost €1600, they must make it have better cameras than anyone else. Agreed on your other points as well. They really should put a 6000mAh battery and use Gorilla Glass Armour. They should also use the composite material that they used on the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 here as well, since it was so damn sturdy and scratch-resistant compared to glass while also feeling nice and being able to do wireless charging. Speaking of charging, they should also do 240W wired by following the USB-PD3.1 spec, which has explicit support for that; and use at least USB4.0 20Gbps.

Well, this phone at least comes with its charger in the box haha and a cover!! It's something, and the price drops in 4 months, the only thing it needs is an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a commitment to updates, no one is going to spend 1,500 dollars to be left adrift in 6 months, Google and Samsung are already They have started this to catch up with Apple in terms of support, come on Xiaomi, you are 3rd in global sales, you are no longer the typical random Chinese manufacturer!! You already have a name made and a reputation to take care of
