The people on this site though are not reflective of the average consumer as the average consumer doesn't spend a lot of time on tech sites comparing phone specs and reviews of multiple phones the majority of which they will never buy. Also the average consumer doesn't pixel peep on photos. They judge by whether a photo looks good on their phone screens mostly. These camera flagships are mainly for camera phone photography enthusiasts. There are also disadvantages to these ultra type camera phones. The main one being in hand feel. Often the standard flagship models have better in hand feel and are more comfortable to use on a daily basis. For example take the Xiaomi 14, Vivo x100, and OPPO find x7. These base model all have good cameras and better in hand feel that the ultra models have/will have and probably are better options for the majority of people

The average ELO of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is 1363, which is the second-lowest average ELO out of 20 smartphones, even Fairphone 5 beats it with an average ELO of 1449. In ELO per dollar, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has 0.84, which is also the second-lowest.
The highest average ELO is the Google Pixel 7A, which is 1660, and the highest ELO per dollar, which is 3.32.
However, MKBHD said that the test is a point-and-shoot. One commenter said that this test is for people who don't know much and don't want to learn photography.

Stacked BSI : Layer 1 is pixels and transistors, layer 2 is circuit .

If the imx903 (1/1.14") for iphone 16 pro costs 2x more than imx989 because this tech, imagine price a type 1.0 would cost. If LYT900 was dual layer tech, be sure Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo would not pay the absurd price Sony Semicon would charge.
Xiaomi is going omnivision to reduce costs on the other models.

2) Watch video about 13 ultra from juan bagnell, he exposes that manual mode has different FOV compared to auto mode. This is proof that xiaomi digitally crops and goes back to native resolution to increase range.
