This is a similar panel to the 7.6” display in the Galaxy Z Fold5.

I had LG G6 with the same military grade certification. During the summer heats the phone was incredibly slow and on Winter when battery was below 20% the phone was turning off by itself. This was actually the only phone I had, that was doing this. So I wouldn't rely on this "feature" too much.

OK it can withstand temperature variations and ice...
But what about how to prevent any foldable display from being easily scratched?

AFAIK no one have found a material that is both hard AND flexible at the same time. And then on top it needs to be transparent.

And to call anything that can get scratched by a nail as "durable" seems like pure nonsense.

That is like saying that it can last almost forever, given that you do not ever use it....

Foldables are still interesting devices, but unless some genius create new materials, or they find a way to make seamless junctions between multiple hard display elements, well then we will have to accept that foldables are fragile....

      Phone: Passes military durability test
Me: Still can indent the screen with my fingernail

Meanwhile Samsung makes sure to dramatise durability in every launch flagship event even and throws around many buzzwords, all just for the sake of marketing. "Hey look it's ArMour AluMinum 2.0, or GoRilla VicTus ArmOur GLAsS, aRmor frame, TitaNium strength, tOughEned glaSs fronT and back!!!"

ArmOr this, and Armor that. While at the same time, they also don't guarantee anything cause they know it's going to break, just like other phones, but they love to make huge claims. That's misleading. Ironically their flagships fail far earlier in drop tests. Apple's titanium frame is actually better than Samsung's, but not even apple makes any claims of durability. It's just Samsung every year, with their BS agenda of false durability

        For reference

        https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/samsung-australia-to-pay-14m-penalty-for-misleading-water-resistance-claims

Samsung has been previously been penalised in Australia, for misleading marketing. And they still do that every year

Why market their phones to be super durable or something when it's not actually the case ? After all it's just a glass sandwich design, like other phones. But other brands don't go around making misleading claims of durability

        That's the point

Well lets see Zack Nelson aka Jerryrigeverything what he thinks about new Samsung panel.
Honestly believe it will be scratched by mohs pick 2, big crease in middle and gets damaged when folded with a soil on screen.

Of course, Samsung always designs very durable stuff, it's just that they all fail to actually deliver any durability in real world settings. The S series for example, every phone has cracked in drop tests, often on the very first drop. They can't even get the traditional slab phone durability right, and here they are, marketing foldable durability. No thanks, Samsung. Your durability claims are all just BS

That titanium frame, Armor Victus glass, armor aluminum frame or whatever, it's just lies. Their phones are built like soggy cookies. One drop without case, and it's game over

Lame people think of foldable durability. They're without question very durable.
Smart people question about longevity and foldables clearly lack longevity.

Please make more Unfolded Large Phone.
I always like to hold my Phone, not keep at the pocket due to heavy radiation.

Just like how iPhone 12 got banned recently due to Radiation high SAR at the French.
                      https://www.gsmarena.com/france_bans_apple_from_selling_iphone_12_over_high_sar-news-59881.php#:~:text=Apple%20was%20banned%20from%20selling,selling%20the%20device%2C%20starting%20immediately.

I want a cross-folding smartphone such that it folds either vertically or horizontally or both at the same time. This way, this smartphone can turn into a tablet for more screen display space which is actually good for multi-tasking, and opening 2 or more apps in the foreground. It could increase screen display size by either 2 or 4 times depending on how it is unfolded.

Doesn't matter, now we want to know if the screen protector will easily get peelin'.
