Anton el .PAPI, 26 Feb 2024good watch, wrong price, luckily it tends to go down since ... moreI think you're correct on this. I do not need a watch, but I like the idea behind smartwatches and I think this Oneplus design suits my taste. I got a coupon from Oneplus to drop the price but even at $250 US, that's more than I would spend. I generally eyeball automatic watches that charge the battery from wrist movement, i.e. Seiko.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2024No smartwatch is as accurate as dedicated medical devices b... moreThere's a range to it though. Yes, no watch will be as accurate as devices used in a medical setting, but at the same time some devices are at least pretty good. Apple is currently the king in both sleep tracking and HR tracking accuracy with google doing decent on their pixel watches. Huawei has also got HR tracking down pretty good as well.
Yes, you probbaly don't need spot on accuracy for HR tracking if your goal is just to log some workouts for general fitness purposes - otherwise you'd use an ECG chest strap. But at the same time, I imagine most people woudl at least want the device to be in the right ballpark and not, for example, say you spent your bike ride at 90bpm when your actual HR was 180.

Very nice! What the Pixel could've been since neither uses the Snapdragon W 5 plus and instead use a custom secondary low power processor. It may not match the twp5 hardware or performance, but it will be able to hang with the rest hardware wise. Software is another story, but that's influenced by personal usage cases. A bit of hope for a messed up market.

Galaxy watch 6 costs more? Samsung itself is listing it for less right now with higher trade in values.

Why do the small Chinese brands include sensors on these? They aren't more accurate than a baked potato. They are off on HR, HRV, sleep, movement, calories, almost anything else.
Unfortunately the only companies that have mastered those even semi-accurately are Apple, Oura (for sleep) and Huawei (the only BIG Chinese brand). The rest should just give up on sensors or just show some random numbers on screen (hey, maybe they actually do that).
