[deleted post]And what being faster than xiaomi has to do with it?

Samsung is slower than all other phones with same SoC.
Still sells more flagships than all other.
Even when they have crappynos inside.

Anton el .PAPI, 29 Feb 2024I don't know it but something doesn't necessarily... moreClients in China do not like skins that are very different from iOS. Only EMUi got free pass.
That is why samsung has zero chance there.
Many do not consider using meizu because of FlymeOS.

Xperia in China uses some Meizu services. Sony clients cant wait to get eid of them.

Like last model best looking phone on the market like Sony but totally useless both for international market.

wow a 10 mp 3x tele cam! It's as good as the S24 Ultra hardware wise then Lmaooo

Anonymous, 29 Feb 2024I have heard FlymeOS is very unpopular skin. I don't know it but something doesn't necessarily have to be popular to be good!! Maybe it's better than many of the popular ones!

You can't really survive as a small company in this industry in China. Too hard to compete on price with the giants. Meizu originally had some very decent cameras but most of their camera engineers left for the big guns when Meizu started going downhill

Specs aren't that impressive, but sad to see them go now. I would have liked seeing If they would've kept the 21:9 aspect ratio. It think more companies should try it, just to see if it catches on.

sad to see they might out of business from smartphone segment, atleast they gotten focus at AI which means its clearly good enough to move on

This phone seems to good for them to just quit like that, I hope they change their mind, as unlikely that is.

                        The screen looks very nice

Who wants to buy a phone from a company that already declared they don’t care about phones anymore? Would be easier to be enthusiastic if the company itself was.

Concerning the actual phone, a 21:9 screen (I know Sony also does this since years no need to point it out) is interesting in a way. In an ideal world, where every mobile website and app was designed like what Samsung declared they would do at the beginning of OneUI, which is splitting the screen into a top portion of information that does not need interaction and a bottom portion with information that needs interaction, this would make it so we could have big screens that are still well usable with one hand. If that was the case, we could go even further with something like 22:9 or 23:9. The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to move to 19.6:9. Sure, not a huge difference from 19.5:9, but the fact Apple changes it at all will have some kind of impact, because they usually don’t do any changes like that. I also found that added width makes usage with one hand harder than added height. So for the demand of ever increasing screen sizes, which I still think are mainly driven by the demand for ever increasing battery sizes which bigger phones do enable (besides people replacing use time of tablets/computers/TVs with phones), a taller aspect ratio may be able to be part of a solution.

A end of an era for Meizu, they did really well with their phones

HyperionBurn, 29 Feb 2024looks like a pretty decent flagship killer tbhIt’s the same price as the flagships the original „flagship killer“ wanted to kill in 2014.

Anonymous, 29 Feb 2024Except screen and design, no reason to buy over OP12. These days all phones look alike in one way or another!! this phone looks decent without further ado

Meizu finishing their legacy with a banger. Too bad it won't be available outside China...

If you remove the ToF, rear design is what next xperia looks like.

It is everything the pixel 8 pro should be!! If they had a global version at a reasonable price they would sell quite a few of these phones
