I can get the S23FE at A55's price..

rizki1, 07 Mar 2024Mind blowing price.Yup. At least I live in the UK, but the fact that the Google Pixel 8 Pro costs that much while not even having a base storage of 256GB of UFS4.0 is ridiculous. Also, the 1TB storage option isn't even in all markets, and people in the EU and a small number of other European countries where Google phones are being sold are getting shafted with a mix of higher prices and no 1TB storage option alongside the problems everyone else is facing.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2024Tfw phones from 2 or 3 years ago are still passable but lol... moreIf Samsung had started with 256GB of UFS3.1 storage, had 12GB of RAM, gave it an autofocusing ultrawide that did macro and gave it that same 13MP selfie that the A35 had, then this wouldn't be such a bad phone for the price. Samsung at this point is intentionally being stingy because they don't have proper competition in their biggest markets, which are Western ones. They've been unable to expand elsewhere, though, because their stinginess doesn't allow them to compete against anyone in other markets because those markets are highly competitive.

Take India, for example. India has access to so many different brands, and you'll find phones in basically any price bracket. You have homegrown competition like Lava and Jio, who mostly make phones in the ultra-budget to budget segment. You have many Chinese brands like Vivo (and iQOO), OnePlus, Xiaomi and Realme, who make phones in lots of different price brackets. Vivo and iQOO are mostly concerned with the mid-range to flagship tier, OnePlus are mostly in the mid-range (though their relevance has been falling for a while), Xiaomi has so many phones over virtually every price bracket imaginable, and Realme is concerned with the ultra-budget to mid-range tier (even their flagship is a flagship killer-type deal rather than an actual flagship). When you have so much selection in so many different price brackets, selection that naturally leads to competition in how good the quality is for the price, in a country as large and densely-populated as India, what can you do to compete? You cannot employ your current tactics that you use in Western markets, because other manufacturers have phones that have the quality of your next-tier-up phone or even higher for the price of yours. You can get a different phone for the price of the A25 that is more like the quality of the A55, so why would anyone buy Samsung, especially in an already budget-conscious market like India, where people's incomes vary a lot from each other but where most people are relatively poor. Samsung's M and F series also don't help, because they're usually not enough of a jump in quality to be worth it, and sometimes are more expensive or compromise in other areas that the A series equivalent doesn't.

DarlingYext, 07 Mar 2024They are both way overpriced again, as usual. This time how... moreIn return you get a most likely worse display.
Probably still UFS 2.2 compared to 3.1.
            Less fluid and optimised software.
            Glass back (mostly a disadvantage)
Virtual proximity sensing (may not be a big deal but a disadvantage is a disadvantage)

            And the advantages:
            Better camera processing
            Longer update support
More customisation of One UI if you need it
            4k 30fps (kinda gimmicky)
IP67 compared to IP54 (kinda gimmicky too)
            Aluminium frame
            Macro camera (gimmicky too)

For 100 euros more, and that’s comparing the 8+128 of a55 vs 12+256. Guess its up to you to see if the extra small bits matter, but not worth it imo

PS: Why aren’t you complaining about Exynos though?

For USA guys: risk it with Nothing Developer Program and get 2a or go the easy route with OnePlus 12 and/or Moto Edge 40. A52s is also a decent deal

For Global/EU fellas: Poco X6 Pro and Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is way better deal. 530 euros is almost 580 dollars. Not worth it when with trade in, 1+ 12R is literally around 320-380 USD.

              Overpriced, simply.

Samsung mid rangers(and flagships) were always overpriced day one.

Thats why they tend to drop in price real fast.

The more you wait to get them, the more they drop in price.

After a month or two, they would be selling at, maybe around €280 or €300 for the A35, €350 for the A55, I reckon, which isn't too bad. Remember, the A34 and A54 were released at €400 and €500 respectively, and they are always at the €300 ballpark, so the same could be expected for these A35/ A55.

Also lacks camera features Redmi has in other phones like motion tracking with automatic shutter speed adjustment. Of course both that and this phone will become good enough options when they drop in price but not at full price. Everything can be good at the right price. Personally I'm more interested in cameras than performance and according to leakers more midrangers will come with telephotos in the second half of the year so there should be improvements in that regard. I think Redmi will also be forced to do this when its competitors are

They are both way overpriced again, as usual. This time however "competition" like the Phone (2a) is so bad, this still seems like better value, with much more premium build quality, especially on the A55 with a glass and aluminum build.

At least there are two decent camera sensors on the A55. However, if they added a 3x telephoto it would be a great midrange setup for cameras. Realme has it a flagship class 3x periscope on a midranger for the first time. It's time for Xiaomi and Samsung to step up. The Redmi note 13 pro+ and this are very disappointing in terms of upgrades from their predecessors especially for cameras. Xiaomi and Samsung are just offering the same formula over and over again. Even nothing is doing a better job. There should be better midrangers in the second half of the year
