justasmile, 13 Mar 2024So you’re gonna sacrifice brightness, deeper blacks, less b... moreBrightness and less battery consumption are not advantages of OLED, they depend on the individual panel. Deeper blacks is the only real „advantage“ of OLED but then there are problems like black smear which in my experience is even worse than just a uniform dark grey background (which many apps and websites default to anyway). So realistically, LCD is better and cheaper for me and many people. And I didn’t even mention the 10% of the population that are sensitive to PWM dimming, or the actual advantages of LCD like no burn in and better durability as well as less color shift at an angle. IPS is the best most balanced and reliable display technology that exists today. And it still gets better while we wait for microLED, for example with IPS black on LG monitors that improves contrast from 1000:1 to 2000:1 and next year 3000:1 (matching some VA panels without the bad viewing angles and slow response time as well as better color reproduction), and in TVs with better Local Dimming systems and more powerful LEDs for higher brightness each year. And concerning blooming, not only does this improve continuously (see Sony miniLED 2024 demo for example), but there is also an inherent „blooming“ effect caused by the human eye glare. That means LCD only needs to get as good at controlling blooming as the human eye can perceive (like the theory behind Apple‘s Retina display but applied to light control and not sharpness), pixel-level is not necessary.

The Power brand is meaningless now. Every budget phone has a 5000mAh battery now. When the G7 power came out in 2019 it was almost unheard of to find a decent looking phone with 3 day battery life, and now the Power phones barely do that because of 5G or whatever. Why don’t they step it up to 6000mAh at least?
On a positive note, it’s crazy how budget phones are getting better (in the US). Plus headphone jack and micro sd slot is always welcome, sadly they’re considered extras nowadays

justasmile, 13 Mar 2024What about battery consumption and AOD support then?Nothing is important as my eyes men.

LCD is old and paying such high for it is not a good choice but depends on user.
Those who complain about AMOLED displays peobably used their phone for very long time and thus they caused that burn-in issue.

I had a phone 2015 model and it's display worked fine till 2017 or 2018.
On 2017 or 2018 i started playing PUBG on it and the AMOLED display got burn-in issue because of my usage pattern.
The display panel still got those burn-in marks and visible but it don't create a major problem.
Cause when i saw that problem, i stopped playing the game, LOL!
I used that phone till 2020, bought a new AMOLED one in that year and using the same till now by keeping those lessons in my mind.
Thus this phone's AMOLED is working well without those burn-in issues.

PureOS, 12 Mar 2024That is not true. Ips is much more durable than amoled. So you’re gonna sacrifice brightness, deeper blacks, less battery consumption, all those stuff just for that?
I may understand if it’s because of PWM, but for other reasons no.
