Pro is coming with flagship cameras seen in candy bar phones and a big battery. That will shake up things for sure.

This is the upgrade Vivo needed to compete. 3 under-display fingerprint scanners wasn't cutting it. I'm curious to see how they are getting this battery size. Maybe they are using the silicon-carbon technology Honor is using for their batteries.

SA466, 14 Mar 2024Sometimes foldables seem like a bit of a parallel universe,... moreNo, foldables are going through the same cycle as smartphones in the earlier days. Thin phones which are lightweight are considered better and since they are foldables, they NEED to be thin to replicate a normal phone. And after the thinness war has been fought and a normal size has been found, they'll then go for bigger batteries. Take the iPhones and the Galaxy S phones for instance. S2-S6 was a race for bigger phones, bigger batteries yet they always wanted to make it thinner and stuff. Then from S7 onwards we went down the road of thicker phones and bigger batteries. Also, foldables have been gaining in battery since the last generation. From X Fold to X Fold 2, Mix Fold 2 to Mix Fold 3, Find N2 to Find N3, Mate X2 through to Mate X5. Dunno what you mean by them not focusing on battery life. They're trying to focus on battery life whilst minimizing the size/weight as much as possible. Battery life is still a focus, otherwise why would they increase the sizes of the batteries if they ONLY wanted to make the phones thinner and lighter?

Foldable phones need to settle for a better screen aspect ratio imo because square isn't too useful for most people, the closer to 16:9 or the wider it gets the better, square-ish ratios create huge black bars in videos and I don't think many people bring this up. What's the point of such a huge screen if 40-60% is going to be filled with black bars in most normal content, I feel like tri-fold phones would be able to fix this properly.

Sometimes foldables seem like a bit of a parallel universe, where manufactures are focusing on thin phones rather then more and more battery life like with standard phones.
