Corning has strangely not yet informed the public where their armor lands on the vickers hardness (HV0.025), unlike Xiaomi's Dragon Crystal which currently has the no. 1 spot with a Vickers hardness of 860 HV0.025, followed by the 2nd. gen. Kunlun from Huawei.

Not just decent hardness, but also impact resistance. A quoted 10 times more resistant to falls than conventional reinforced glass.

It has several generations old display technology. Limited to a 8-bit panel capable of displaying only up to 16.7 million colors. The competitors have used 10-bit panels for many years, showing up to 1 billion colors and the best now reach 12-bit and up to 68 billion colors.
They also lack in HDR format support. The only place they keep up on the display side, is brightness. Color volume and HDR support is lacking.
Even the budget Redmi Note 13 Pro has a display that support 68 billion colors and dolby vision. Yet Samsung saves on all of this in their their Ultra flagship, and all other phones for that matter.
After the headphone jack got killed we were left with Bluetooth headphones, earphones, speakers etc. So then Bluetooth codecs matter and also here Samsung skips various aptX and LHDC codecs. They offer budget level bluetooth codecs, in a Ultra flagship. Not to mention they went with the older Bluetooth 5.3, despite older and cheaper devices from others sporting Bluetooth 5.4 and loads more codec support.
These are two reasons why I would not opt for a Samsung. No true HDR with regards to color gamut and format support and very limited bluetooth codec support. Both what you see and hear when you consume media is not at the level it could be. . .

Minu, 19 Mar 2024Gimme 16:9 phones any day over these long giraffesI think 18:9 is the best smartphone aspect ratio.
Great for one-handed vertical surfing and for horizontal videos/movies on youtube and other streaming services. You get less, to none, black bars on streaming content where a lot is 18:9 to 21:9. Plus not much lost in fit-to-screen for 16:9 content, unlike on 21:9 displays where a lot is lost. A similar issue to what 21:9 devices have with 16:9 content, 16:9 devices have with 21:9 content. Too much gets lost if wanting a fullscreen experience with no black bars. 18:9 handles it better.
21:9 and there about gives us a large number for the screen size, yet not so very large screen area. They kept the overall size of the 18:9 phones of yesteryear, just stretched the
display and trimmed the top and bottom bezels. Not ideal, for my sake.
Oh how I wish someone will make a modern day Xiaomi Mi Max. Keep the screen size and aspect of the Mi Max 3, just trim the bezels and make it a flat amoled in QHD+ and I'm there. Sadly this is a niche market, same as small phones, so nobody interested in making them.

404, 19 Mar 2024Didn't know if the world is just US.I feel disappointed with the lack of marketing for non-Samsung/Apple/OnePlus phones in the US market, and phones such as the Nokia G50 6/128, retail at US$130 officially while being extremely underrated among the US population.
Also don't forget the low ends that are priced atrociously for the "gourmet vomit" population in the world, especially the Moto G Pure with Helio P22 and 3/32 configuration, released in 2020 and retails still at a hair above US$200

Samsung does not make the best smartphones. Their flagship S24 Ultra isn't a bad phone, especially if you've only ever used Samsungs, but it certainly lacks in several areas compared to others. Thankfully they have a strong marketing budget, so large they remain.
