I wonder what the guy claiming that smokes
919 euro for a Fold is not going to happen when Flips launch at a higher price.
Even base S24 started at higher price.
It would be great if it was true, but it is certainly not.

They might uses Exynos 2200. It doesn't makes sense if they go lower, at least for the Fold one. It makes more sense to put a midranger chip on the Flip one.

Does anybody know why the hell foldables are still so freaking expensive? Is it the folding panel (similar technology to what's used in curved displays)? The hinge? The cooling for the Exystoves? Or Samsung's complete lack of self-respect that lets them sell 1800$ phones with a 10MP telephoto?

Because the normal fold was sold equivalent of 2600 usd in my country because of the "100% luxury good taxes". Way cheaper than before but still hella expensive compared to the rest of the world 😭
That's why some people secretly import their phone or even go overseas just to buy a phone to avoid the taxes. Even so, it is useless. Because if your phone taxes was not paid, your phone mobile data will be forced to shutdown by the government through imei tracking only after 3 months you bought it. To unlock it, you must pay that hella expensive taxes. Yeah, there is a workaround but, it was not a permanent solution. You can still be banned only after 1 month or even a week after it.

Irrespective of the price I won't be buying or using this device. Or any other foldable phone. I prefer the candy bar form factor.

This is Samsung in panic mode because they've under-invested in flagship R&D or years and now Google/Oppo etc are outpacing them. The Pixel 2 in particular sounds very interesting.

Purchase my first foldable fold 4 back in October 2022, cost me 2500 dollars (with case and front screen protector). all were good, used it very carefully. however, a year after that, on November 2023, out of the blue, the inner screen fail to function. repair would cost 500! huge regret of buying such costly device but has POOR durability!

IMO, this is what Samsung needs more than a Ultra model. Foldable sales are falling short. If it weren't for China, there would be little to no growth. The Pixel and Open have done nothing to push foldables further ahead. They probably didn't sell 100k combined.
It's also bold on Samsung's part because it puts more foldables in the hands of regular consumers which could result in more failures so Sam must be confident in the durability. Things have already been better on the Z5. I think they figured something out. It will probably have dust resistance.

Yes, you are right. There is high probability it would use Midrange exynos, because similar case was also implemented on "premium" Galaxy S9 FE that comes with Exynos 1380.
But there is no way it would cost $800 if it came with size of Z Fold, the "cheap" version of Z Flip size phone maybe yes because the foldable screen is super expensive and i dont think Samsung would sacrifice durability only to sell it for lower price.
