AnonD-1147675, 22 Mar 2024I appreciate that you understand me, and my distrust of &qu... moreWell im glad your asus phone fits your needs. Honestly there is a phone for everyone if you look hard enough. There might be some flaghsip tier phones with sd cards still. But brands like samsung and apple won't be reimplenting such things to their top-of-the-line products.
I guess i was a bit rush to judge cause im ive been seeing quite a few complaints about said feautres lately and thus called them "ooga boonga" cause for me personally they kind of are.
And well most people that would actually use them are the kind of people who would be fine with a midrange phone since it's usually non tech savy people/older people that need those.
Then again if we are to blame somebody here it would be the internet providers in your country. They should get better sooon tho (I hope).
Intergaded phone keyboards are kind of nostalgic i guess. I have no such sympathy for dvd players though. usb replaces both. Also you can get pretty cheap small form factor bluettoth keyboards but it doesnt have the same charm as a blackberry does.
I sincerely hope your internet speeds improove soon. Good day to you sir. :D

its a smurf, 22 Mar 2024Genshin's gone to 100gb? Damn it used to be like 30 gb... moreI appreciate that you understand me, and my distrust of "the cloud".
A really fast USB 3.2 port on a phone, and a tiny thumb drive, could potentially be as convinient, but the way forward probably really should be developing faster microSD cards (SDExpress or whatever), and making phones that support that.
My own Zenfone 9, which has a 3.5mm jack, lacks a microSD slot, but a thumb drive somewhat makes up for that, if not for the low speed USB 2.0 port...
I live in Isræl, and 5G is becoming a thing here, but my wired internet is still like 4MB/s. My father used to take me on trips into places in the desert where reception would sometimes be lost, and many buildings here have rooms which are made into shelters, and are pretty good at blocking cellular as well... This country is definitely not known for spending a lot on civilian infrastructure lol.
"And well for me personally wireless ones are much more durable as the wired never last more than 6 months due to the cabling whereas the wireless ones ive had have all lasted me a bare minimum of 3 years. And what usually wears is the battery and not the headphones themselves. Granted it might be the way im treating headphones but I always tried to be as careful as possible with them."
That's an interesting experience, for me my headphones' cables have never worn off, but the earcups have, many times. And after all, wireless headphones also have earcups, don't they (okay, maybe other than earbuds).
I should perhaps note that I really don't like using the type of earphones you put in your ears (wired or wireless), and instead use over-ear headphones (wired ones).
"Charging can be a hussle, It certaintly took a bit of time to get used to having multiple devices to charge but it's worth it my opinion."
As a person who also uses multiple cameras, I already have so many things to charge lol.
At least I don't have a tablet as well, only my laptop and phone (and cameras)...
"I think we've gone off topic. At the end of the day if 3.5m jack and sd card are must haves for you, all you can do is find some competitor. Samsung apple and many others are by no means ever heading into the direction of reintroducing those for their flagship phones. That can only mean that the market isn't there for them anymore and it's not worth the compromises they might have to make to include those (water reistance restriction for jack-possibly smaller battery for sc card slot.) They would do it if everybody asked it/picked a competitor but that's not the case.
Most people (ignorantly) staff everything into the cloud nowdays and more and more people are switching to wireless buds (myself included)."
True, very true. I sure wish people that see and dislike Samsung's removal of features (I bet there were many) wouldn't just instinctively buy yet another Samsung phone next year...
I did what I had to do to keep my 3.5mm jack, and got an Asus phone, accepting the compromise (shorter software support), if I weren't after a small phone the Redmi 13 seems cool as well.
I just don't understand why you claimed these requests were "ooga booga" when we can reach a common understanding after all.
Meanwhile, I also would love to have a keyboard on my phone, and a DVD/BD drive on my laptop, but that's pretty "ooga booga" for real now lol.

AnonD-1147675, 21 Mar 2024"Try loading an app on it and see how you fancy that e... moreGenshin's gone to 100gb? Damn it used to be like 30 gb on mobile. The ridiculous storage requirements of modern games aside, I dont believe you'd have fun playing genshin on the sd card. Try booting up genshin using an sd card with a usb adapter on a computer..it sucks. We both know that the specified speeds and actual speeds are two veery different things. Besides many phones (the ones that have a an sd card slot xD) dont even let you put apps in the sd card due to the abysmal speeds.
I can respect not wanting to post your personal files on the cloud. One can never be too careful. Im sure there are non-volitle files you could put there (trust me the convenience of having it anywhere is kind of worth it) but i can understand why one might not want to do that.
By the way im curious, where do you live? Mainly asking due to your "no reception" and "4mb/s" remarks.
As a person who used to have a bad internet connection+ badmobile coverage until relatively recently, I can understand that notion.
"LOL what? I literally unplug my headphone's jack from my phone's, then plug it into my laptop's. I do it DAILY. It takes me 2 seconds. Don't even need to take my headphones off."
I walked right into that didnt i? What im reffering to is some very specific situations. Im in the bathroom and my phone is in my room charging. Im listening to music using bt on my phone. I get a call answer it on the watch and the headphones automatically connect to my watch. Its not something you need but its quite useful when you do have it.
"Sure! If you pay twice/thrice the price, that is!"
Now that is depadable. Obviousl;y you can buy decent sony wired headphones for dirt cheap nowdays but we've reached the point where decent wireless headphones aren't that much more expensive. And well for me personally wireless ones are much more durable as the wired never last more than 6 months due to the cabling whereas the wireless ones ive had have all lasted me a bare minimum of 3 years. And what usually wears is the battery and not the headphones themselves. Granted it might be the way im treating headphones but I always tried to be as careful as possible with them.

Btw if you havent tried wireless buds ina few years i think you should give them a try. On the budget side the redmi buds are very vfm and if you're willing to give a bit more the galaxy buds are phenomenal.

its a smurf, 21 Mar 2024Sd cards were designed for cameras so basically just for st... more"Try loading an app on it and see how you fancy that experience. Their speeds are abyssmal and not worth the hassle or space needed to implement them in a modern flagship compact phone."
UHS-II microSD cards are, according to the specification at least, capable of 30MB/s write and 156 MB/s read. That's WAY faster than my internet connection.
But it is slow for some purposes. Even cameras are switching to CFExpress over SD due to the "low" speeds of the latter. And I don't expect CFE to make it to phones, considering the size of the damn card... Although, there is the rarely implemented SDExpress protocol which promises similar speeds to CFE, using the same SD card formats. Maybe phone makers should look into that.
Still, much of what people fill their phones with IS actually photos and videos, so microSD still makes a lot of sense then. In addition to that, you might have heard of the game Genshin Impact. I play this game, and its open world system is fascinating to explore. However, the storage requirements of the game are absurd... a fresh install would take nearly 100GB of the phone's storage... My Zenfone 9's 256GB storage is already 50% full, mostly because of this game... I would love to install it on a 1TB microSD card, to make sure my phone still has some storage left, even if that would make the game load slower. Can you install that on "the cloud"?
"Ever heard of the cloud??"
USB OTG is a fair answer, but I swear people that tell me to store my precious files on some company's servers are CIA agents waiting to look through my files the moment they get the chance...
"You can get speeds 10x times those of a convential sd card"
Not all of us live in a 5G heaven. My WiFi speed is barely 4MB/s.
"and you can have your files accessible anywhere."
LOL ever heard of the phrase "No reception"?
"Also seemlessly switching to another device (pc, watch, phone or whatever) is pretty much impossible."
LOL what? I literally unplug my headphone's jack from my phone's, then plug it into my laptop's. I do it DAILY. It takes me 2 seconds. Don't even need to take my headphones off.
"The whole "wired headphone quality can't be topped" is pretty much bs..they are basically the same quality."
Sure! If you pay twice/thrice the price, that is!
"There is 0 reason to tether yourself with wired headphones over the convinience of wireless."
To each their own, of course. I just hate charging stuff, and don't want any lag in my audio.

They better give the 22 the same features, or is going to break trust. I wouldn't trust samsung to being new features to phones still eligible for updates, if they didn't.

AnonD-1147675, 21 Mar 2024holy shit what a loser licking the boots of Apple and Samsu... moreSd cards were designed for cameras so basically just for storing photos /videos and it shows. Try loading an app on it and see how you fancy that experience. Their speeds are abyssmal and not worth the hassle or space needed to implement them in a modern flagship compact phone. Ever heard of the cloud?? You can get speeds 10x times those of a convential sd card and you can have your files accessible anywhere. do you know how convinient it is to be able to fetch your phone files on your computer instantly? Besides..if you absolutely need onboard storage (which you shouldn't) there is always usb otg.
I could never return to wired headphones. the cables get mixed up all the time and you need to have the phone litterary on you any time you use them. Also seemlessly switching to another device (pc, watch, phone or whatever) is pretty much impossible. The whole "wired headphone quality can't be topped" is pretty much bs..they are basically the same quality. There is 0 reason to tether yourself with wired headphones over the convinience of wireless.
All in all, both are pretty "ooga boooga" for a premium top of the line phone.

As the article said, if the s23 can get it so can the s22. Heck i'd even argue the S21 and S20 could get it (but won't). "It will need a lot more work to get it in in the S22 series", sounds like total bs.
It seems Samsung is low balling us.

Looks like as of now, SD8-Gen1, Gen2 and Gen3 will benefit on this Galaxy AI feature. I hope they offer it also to the last SD888 chip which is on the S21+ flagship of 2021. IT was released by Samsung themselves, the upcoming OneUI 6.1 update will include Galaxy AI feature.
