Samsung might opt to equip the Galaxy Z Flip6 with an Exynos chip

Until now, Samsung's foldables came with the Snapdragon chips.

Last year, i gave credits to Samsung for putting Snapdragon in all of their devices as well as their software support that improved to 7years.

Unfortunately that didnt last long, from late 2023 with the horrible S23FE(rebranded S22), to the Exynos2400.

I live in Europe and the fact that Samsung goes back to Exynos is a no go for me.

This year's exynos isnt half bad. Most people hating it haven't even tried an S24. If they figure out the thermals and battery life we could see it happening with the z 7s.
What I dont want to see is the region differential we've been seeing the last few years.
If you go exynos commit to it globally. You can reserve the snapdrahon 8 gen wahtever for the ultra variant but keep it the same for every model.

      Exynos 2400++
Now with extra heat for the upcoming winter

Putting an soc that's notorious for running hot into a form factor that's difficult to keep cool... yeah I see no way that could go wrong.

If it is 100 euro/dollar cheaper than Flip 5 then it is ok but if not i will just use Flip 5 and either upgrade to different phone or wait if Flip 7 will be with snapdragon(or if it has exynos price will be 100 dollars/euro cheaper).

Samsung is evolving alright, but backwards

battery life can be predicted by comparing s23,flip5 and s24(eyxnos) tests. here are my flip6 eyxnos predictions:
              phone calls 23hrs,
              web 8:30hrs,
              video 16hrs,
              gaming 6:30hrs.
              Active use score: 11:30hrs.

Well, Samsung is obviously committing suicide with that decision!

Considering the flip already has a battery capacity that's meagre by today's standards, this could potentially be a 3 Hr SOT disaster waiting to happen.

Grabbing the popcorn and a front seat ticket for this trainwreck.

They can try but it surely won't end well :)

I'll lose my shit if that chip ends up being the 1380

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results”. This is right about Samsung and its Exynos...

Samsung is cooked if they're doing this. If the battery life is good or, keep up with Flip5 at least then that's alright

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2024Bring The Headphone Jack Back, not an inferior chip. Foldables are meant to be slim as possible, bringing it back would be glorious for a ton of users here but that jack would increase the thickness.

Headphone jacks are like the holy grail of a good smartphone nowadays

Samsung wants to keep profit margins up so they gonna do this of course

Same goes for brands, people buy Samsung and iPhones because they see others do it.

But no matter how hard I try, my mom would never get a Pixel for example, same goes for other less known brands.

                                Because people don't care

Same witg microsd slot, no charger in box and removal of 3.5mm

                                Most people don't care

I do, but I am the minority.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2024The whole world prefers qualcomm over exynos.99.9% of people do not give a doggystyle damn about what chip a phone has

Assuming next year they really do go all Exynos, you'd think they would start develop of Exynos 2500 or whatever and give the Flip 6 that.

The price should be reduced by $200 because it uses its own SoC.

Let's just see the battery life results and we'll talk.
