A great Qualcomm chip, a Sony camera sensor and 100W charging ruined by it being the size of a tablet. These companies need to stop releasing a zillion models with similar specs and offer a couple of models with smaller dimensions. Google manages to do it and only releases three phones annually.

The nord4 might have bettter storage but the 12R might keep some advantages ( more ram ? , curved screen that some enjoy, ltpo display, better SOC for gaming, maybe a better software support)
So it's going to depend on your priorities ^^

8sg3 exists only to milk chinese brands.
Qualcomm knows they would most use 8g2 for $450-600 phones this year, so now they can push this 8s for higher price.
Simple.
This is for devices like OnePlus Ace, Oppo Reno, Vivi iqoo neo

It's really down to time, so think of is this way when Qualcomm REVISITS a previous generation (no not the grandparents) the updated chip is inserted into the portfolio so that become a PLUS. We went backwards
When Qualcomm doesn't improve on the current generation in the current generation
8G3 is better than 8G2, 8G2 is better than 8G1
(The OP stated there won't be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 as going to a 3nm will come with a name change as Qualcomm have always done ). Think S supplemental rather than sub.
Now this is what trips many people up,
Qualcomm have added an updated chip based on a previous architecture
ALL Snapdragon 8 have a different architecture to each other.
However Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 is a the newly released whose architecture is the same as Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 same (1+4+3) but is different to Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 (1+3+4)
So it can't be Snapdragon 7 GEN 4, it would be 7+ Gen 4 if it was (1+3+4)

Nord CE4 is scheduled for April 01 launch with SD 7 Gen 3. Nord 4 (Ace 3V in China) will launch with SD 7+ Gen 3. Yeah, the names are confusing, but can be figured out if you pay a bit more attention.

Should have used 7g3/ 8GB , so they could offer at least 12MP 1/3.4" 56mm camera instead of better SoC and mora ram.
