PCI Express 7.0 inches closer, a full release is expected in 2025

03 April 2024
This is for the specifications, the actual hardware will take a while to get to consumers - most are still on PCIe 4.0 (and a few lucky ones on 5.0).

It's incredible how fast PCIe really is. A PCIe 7.0 16 lanes slot would support 500 hard drives, which is enough for 10PB of storage. That's right, petabytes.

However, this feels like when a new ARM Cortex design comes out (A future A730, let's say), but the phones you can buy today are still using A78 cores.

Jeeezus ... u made article PCIe 6.0 is here with double the bandwidth at 128Gbps in 12 January 2022 and yet nobody using pcie 6 still but only 5 and many still have 4
Today now numbering and increasing lanes means -> useless not good for anyone..

ab1dali, 03 Apr 2024The question is, how expensive would the USB-C cable to tak... moreif its going to be bought from apple, it'd cost you like a 100 grand.

And yet 7900 XTX is not even close to maxing out 16 lanes of PCIe 4.0.

The question is, how expensive would the USB-C cable to take full advantage of the bandwidth that PCIe 7.0 offers. The speed matters with the quality of cable.
