I guess its so much of professional tech that many fail to see its value.
But at least I will thank samsung for bringing what sony couldn't, tho I wish they would.

Going back to facts. I have variable ND filters for my system camera. They're great, but one thing a digital ND filter beats them hands down on is image uniformity. Both due to polarized light varies notably if you move a camera a fraction in any direction, and also because they tend to create more or less visible vignetting patterns. Especially when you cram the ND filter numbers up toward their max.

Don't get me wrong, I would never bother buying a fixed ND filter as I don't take my photography seriously enough for that. But it isn't a clear cut "physical variable ND filters are better at everything".

6500euro sony cameras dont have this, so guess the value of samsung phones now.
For those who dont get what this means, its like you walk in streets or in woods, ready for some action so you set your shutter to 1/400 sec., but with way more light you will get just white picture since there is no other way to compensate for too much light other than shoot atv 1/3000 of sec..
With ND you will not experience this, tho to manually set this while hunting for fast moving subject is lost game.
Auto ND solves that issue, also there is no mechanical auto ND, only variable ND filters you got to rotate, which is slower.
Also,... electronic ND is superior in quality to mechanical one, as there are no color deviations or corner darkening.
Also, ... quality mechanical ND prices are around 300 euros.

Besides all that, long exposure in daylight will be another way to use it, considering most people dont buy and use ND, it will dramatically change mobile photography.
Hope that full spectrum, UV and IR photography will make a way in phones too. Really fun to shoot using IR on my old phone, wish new one got it tho.

You can't mimic the effect by playing around with your exposure time and reducing your ISO level, because a level 10 ND filter is the equivalence of reducing ISO 100 to ISO 0.1. Which is something you can't achieve on any camera, no matter cost.

"Digital" ND filter are as good as those black & white filters.

this is pretty much just playing with exposure and ISO with a fancy name. The S23 doesnt even have variable aperture to reduce the quantity of light reaching the sensor
