Depends on how they made it and the texture they want. Alcantara is part of the "faux leather" branding. Also it can be better to create than using real leather (for the environment atleast) but yeah its not exactly just a fancy word for "cheap plastic"

                stop using fancy words for cheap plastic

                  So it's simply the same red colorway that the iQOO 12 Pro already had available. They could've simply announced it as a normal color option, instead of all this Anniversary Edition stuff. Or, if they really wanted it to be special, they could've at least changed the packaging a bit, something more premium or whatever
