Samsung always lacked behind in yiald numbers as well as thermal management of their chip production, other manufacturers lack behind TSMC, because they are simply not good enough. ASML and TSMC are monopolies, because others are simply not good enough and can't compete with them...

      If it was Huawei or a Chinese company receiving a government grant people would be complaining about government control and how Chinese companies are subsidised so they can dump goods in other countries. Hypocrisy

The US has very little control or influence over it and don't sustain it in anyway. It's owned by its shareholders like any private company and answers to its shareholders, certainly not to the US. Nearly all their manufacturing is in Taiwan. How could it be erased in seconds. It's one of the world's most valuable and powerful companies with nobody currently able to replace it.

The Fed is even banned from buying T-Notes on the primary market in order to preserve its independence. Don't start speaking about subjects you know nothing about.

                          Basically in the next decade or two these chips are extremely important for economic development. Whoever controls the chips will have a lot more power. The US probably realize they've messed up in this area but whether or not it's too little too late remains to be seen. Taiwan and Tsmc basically controls this industry for advanced chip manufacture with Samsung and South Korea a distant second. It's actually amazing how much power Tsmc has been allowed to build up with little competition. They are almost a monopoly
