For those worried about power mode, seems like the device won't be sending the off battery location for long, most likely they rely in some sort of low-power bluetooth device to keep sending signal for a period, that other android phones pick.

That is one of the reason you can use google maps precisely even withouth 3G, and GPS, they rely in WIFIs around you, this case is no different.

So eventually the phone will die and stop sharing location, so if you're in the middle of the forest well, doubt they will be able to find you.

Every phone with unremovable battery has this feature. That's the whole point of unremovable battery that your phone can't go offline ever ( you can't go off the grid).

So now they track you without your consent for "find your phone". Brilliant move! Now imagine how much money they'll make by selling your position to entities of any kind (governmental, private etc)

Yeah, you can expect battery drain unless you can kill off the service manually, like force close the service. But, we're talking about Google here. Good luck doing so. On the other hand, Find My on iOS only works like two minutes after the phone turned off or (battery) dead. After that, you only can see the iPhone last location. Not sure if Google will do the same 🤷🏻‍♂️

this would expand much better than the Apple's Tag, which not everywhere got Apple device like Android Market Share King.

I wonder if this would drain the battery faster.
I know, "even when the battery is dead" but how else would this chip be powered by?

Some people want Google completely out of their phone which is fine. Others prefer the convenience that Google's services provide. That's the great part of Android's flexibility.
