    Most revenue of Playstation and Nintendo comes from the sales of their exclusive games.

    Letting Playstation and Nintendo have 3rd party game store would not give significant effect, if it only sell non exclusive games.

                  Japan should start with Sony/Nintendo first. iOS is a console just like Playstation & Switch are consoles. But an argument can be made that as long as consoles are not multi-purpose devices like Phones/PCs are… “it’s okay for non-essential entertainment-consoles to be anti-competitive & anti-consumer”.

                  It makes sense why the PS5 has ditched the built-in browser + PS4 ditched basic file storage/management features + PS3 ditched “OtherOS”. But if Nintendo starts adding non-entertainment apps to their Switch OS; that’ll be an anti-trust issue.

                  (Unless of course, Nintendo creates a multi-platform subscription called “Super Nintendo+” that will allow you to play Nintendo classics on iOS. Which the recent changes in Appstore rules regarding “Retro game emulation” might be hinting at *Wink Wink*)

                                Lmao. We've been saying this for a long time now. They allowed Apple to do that for decades, just like the US and others, and didn't do anything. Why only now? Did they wait till Apple got very rich?

                                Apple only got popular in Japan due to "free" phones given away by carriers.
                                Took them years to take action with that as well.
