Looking good Sony. Normally I don't mess with phablet devices but that's because I have never seen one to actually fit my fancy. But I guess its time to change that up a bit. Xperia ZU is looking good

AnonD-21891, 21 Jun 2013Going by the screenshots looks like you can create folders ... moreI think it has always been that way on Sony's launcher.
I use an Xperia Ray and both Gingerbread and ICS versions of the launcher support that feature.

AnonD-78094, 21 Jun 2013Id rather have XPERIA RAY. 3'3in. for me (im an asian) havi... moreI also use an Xperia Ray and I love it because it is compact.
What I'd have liked in the phone is more RAM and a larger internal memory. Without those two, a JellyBean update is out of the question.

My next upgrade is likely to be an Acro S. It may be a year old but I don't think I'll go in for a phone larger than ~4 inches. Plus, it beats all 2013 mid-range Sony phones released to date.

m sure it will cost much more than note 3... just saw xperia z tablet which costs more than iphone 5 here in india... if sony prices it fair then it will kill every other phablet... excited for the fight between xperia ZU n galaxy note 3...

if it had blunt edges like gnote2 then it will easily fit on pockets as it has onscreen buttons so the bezels will be very small like xperia zl... on the other note if it has sharp edges like the xperia z/zl then pocket fitting will be a big question even after having small bezels as its uncomfortable to be held in pockets due to sharp edges... rounded corners are a must for phablets...

We have different needs in smartphone, so the manufacturers consider those differences.

This is totally wrong. The "Retina" moniker is indeed marketing, as it only refers to a display with a very high pixel-density. This means that any display is capable of being a "retina" display if its ppi is high enough.

Super LCD refers to the use of continuous-grain silicon in the display, as opposed to amorphous silicon. But a Super LCD display could be TN, IPS, VA, or whatever.

Triluminos is not a type of display, but rather a type of backlighting. The Xperia Z Ultra will have Triluminos backlight but an IPS display. A normal LED LCD uses a blue LED coated in yellow phosphor compounds to create white light that is then filtered to produce colors. A Triluminos display uses a pure blue LED backlight that then illuminates a layer containing red and green quantum dots. This is how it produces white light, and the result is that colors are "purer" (there is less wasted light). And no, no other manufacturer is using anything remotely like this right now.

IPS is not a layer added on top of anything, it refers to how the display works. It's "in-plane switching," as opposed to perpendicular switching.

rj23, 21 Jun 2013IPS is fine, its an LCD but TFT is the toughest to put in t... moreTriliminous, retina and super lcd are aliases used by companies to make their products sounds unique, they are all lcd screens the main difference between all is that IPS is a layer added on top of the lcd, it makes the display less reflective, tft is basically a regular LCD without ips. almost all phone companies uses ips lcd except sony and samsung.
