The XR is working fine with iOS17. We have a bunch of them and they are performing well. We are no longer in the age of iPhone 4 or 6 where they get slow significantly in their later years. Even an iPhone 7 is still good. RAM and heat/battery are the bottleneck for these older phones, not the performance of the SoC.

Reality..., 26 Apr 2024Gotta hard disagree with this one. My old iPhone X is on it... moreAfter 550 cycles, the battery deteriorate by 20%. The iphone starts lagging. Not visible directly but the animation slows down a bit. That's after 2 years of usage.

My old iPhone X is on its latest allowed version and still works like a champ. Battery life isn't what it used to be but the camera is still good and most importantly it doesn't lag! Definitely not when typing...

So it's lo... moreLast time I use Android was Huawei P6 after 2 years it broke to no function at all. I try windows phone was Nokia Lumia 930 only last for 2 and half years before Microsoft decided to end its service. And lastly I try iPhone, my very first is iPhone 7 that still use till now as I already upgrade to 14 Pro, what a surprise those iPhone 7 still provide security updates last month I quiet impressed despite its battery already degraded to 63%
Like you said phones nowadays getting more durable and last longer. Likely no need to upgrade for quiet while.

So it's lo... moreOr maybe no more update support sometimes (lately most phone brand opting to go with 3 years which is actually the usual time of buying new phone), despite one head of the brand say update for 7 years is redundant.
As for brand, sometimes it is more into brand marketing blunders or people are getting smarter (like prioritizing RAM than body/camera).
I don't count chipset since there are still too many Snapdragon lovers.

So it's lo... moreI believe iPhone durable enough, but cheaper Android phones may last adequately long either. i.e. Redmi Note 8 pro thats I own almost reaching 5 years. iPhone do slowing down over years, hence not make a sense to not upgrade it for very long except we're on tight budget.

As long as they use iPhones they will not be left behind. For someone using cheaper android phones, they will be marked as poor and maybe bullied.

For me better just grateful what I have. Reject fanboys for both factions between Android and iOS. It’s just a phone, nothing need to be fighting over it wasting time.
