But I have apps that cost almost as much as the ipad itself like Pianoteq. I also use DAWs with many plugins and Live Mix apps in a live stage, gigging in front of 000s. It works for me as it's small, powerful and yes the M4 will be welcome. I would like a 32gb ram, M4, 4tb ssd option.

Will the M4 be good again or will it make the thermal situation even worse? With every new iteration, the cooling has gotten worse, to the point where we went from no throttling on the Macbook Air M1 to throttling with temps of 110°C at high workloads on the Air M3. What's next? It can't go on like that, those temps are already at ridiculous levels.

Like come on, screen limitation aside, iPadOS makes 99% of the things you can do on the iPad Pro can also be done on the iPad Air, or even the iPad Gen 10 (if you just watch movies/YouTube or playing some medium games and has no problems with no OLED).

And for real problems they just up the ante all the more *cough*8GB&256GB*cough*
Mac Air is cheaper than a full kit of iPad desktop experience at your neck of the woods? No problem! Here's a touchscreen Mac Air and Macbook Pro which cost 2500$+ than the touch-less models. Pricing problem successfully solved :)
Don't underestimate the greed and the sly ability to artificially segment their own lineup of a company that ships parts twice across the globe to assemble then sell (using one of the most polluting fuels on these freight ships) just to save a few dollars of BoM and pad their stock price.

IMHO, it might contain the "new" M chip (not necessary M4), but not because of better performance - which is pretty much useless on limited iPadOS, but because they might patch that big security hole with chip revision.

At the moment, iPad Pro are crazy expensive even without the Magic Keyboard bundled together. Here in Malaysia, you can get MacBook Air M2 16/2TB for the same price as iPad Pro 8/512GB with Magic Keyboard. It's absolutely nuts!

Honestly, it's a worthless upgrade and I share the same sentiments as the other posters that as long as it's running the gimped OS, it is only a glorified portable youtube screen with some tacked on utility for sending out emails and browsing social media junk.
But we know that Tim will never allow the iPads to ever have access to a full fledged OS since the overpriced macs are already gathering dust on the shelves. If iPads become even marginally more work-oriented then the majority of the macbook lineup is toast.

You get more value for money with the MacBooks. Even with macOS on Silicon iPads, there are people who would still go for the iPad because of portability. You see the same thing when comparing Microsoft's Surface Pro against Surface Laptop, yet more people would go and buy the tablet despite being more expensive than the laptop.

Just as useless as the M1 + M2 chip in the IPad Pro being completely limited by IPad OS which have absolutely no worth n less today than 4yrs ago.

I am certain new iPad Pro models will have M3 chips. Apple won't release a tablet with M4 chip before releasing any Macbook and iMacs with the said chip. Also, Apple will want to promote the next iPhone lineup as the "first truly AI-powered device".

As long as its performance being bottlenecked by the crappy iPadOS it doesn't matter what chip it's using. Let us run MacOS, then we can talk.
