        I am totally confused by all those different names. Is it even necessary to have different names in the first place?

            It's not really different if you compare it with iPad name scheming, which is a bit more confusing because at least Sony gives the same generation numbering for their latest model. While in iPad, we got iPad Gen 10, iPad Mini Gen 6, iPad Air Gen 5, iPad Pro 11 Gen 4, and iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 6.

Sony is in a great position where they could call theirs Sony Xperia VI Pro, Sony Xperia VI and Sony Xperia VI Lite, but they're too stubborn to understand that their naming scheme for their cameras is too confusing to work well for their phones.

                      Vivo and oppo are confusing themselves with their phone naming just like samsung was with their chipset naming

                        Vivo HQ executive: we have this new phone. Let's ask each of our subsidiaries in every country to name it.
                        (each sub gave different names)

                          How do I explain to the son I don't have that Vivo 30 SE and Vivo 40 SE, and Vivo Y100 and Y200e are same phone? Xiaomi doesn't even come close to being this shambolic.

                                You are exaggerating too much. They only rebranded the phone 5 times. We still didn't see this phone as V30i, V30x, Y200x, Y100 Pro, Y100 Plus or whatever...

                                  Just launch the same phone with the same name everywhere for god's sake..

                                      At this point, Vivo will probably relaunch this one more time. Or, they should make their mind up and release it as one phone for all markets!
