The iron curtain is slowly being lifted for Americans to discover a whole new world of innovation and enjoyment. I wonder what MediaTek had to give in return for this.

Only american designed chips are allowed in us and others are banned (american business 101). You have seen what happened with Huawei. Even Samsung makes separate phone for us market with qualcomm chip.

FINALLY, things are so boring here.

So does this mean they got a deal with Qualcomm, or will they be using Qualcomm modem instead?

My guess is a unreleased Oneplus phone, maybe a new model

                          [deleted post]Except you.

At the point to think taiwanese company would face sanction from WH, when the island is not the nation trying to invade a neighbor to dominate local semicon technology.

Phones powered by unisoc show up in USA.
Unisoc is chinese and have no issues.

Dont want sanctions? Simple, dont use telecon structure to spy.
Nokia and Ericsson dont do it.

Pixel phones are sold in the US and don't use Qualcomm chips. In fact, they're essentially Exynos

Yes! Finally. With more introduction to different soc competition can better be appreciated.

Yeah, no ban this is Taiwanese not Chinese. Lots of chromebooks with mediatek sold all the time.

Yes mediatek and snapdragon are very similar and performance at the high end

Imagine if this device was the Samsung Galaxy S24 Fe ☠️

                                    Finally US get MediaTek 🤨
Good for them. But you all shouldn't hope for Pixel with MediaTek SoC 🤭

                                      It's Helio G99 Phone from Transsion 💪

An open 2 with a mediatek chip would be inferesting. As long as it can keep the heat and power usage down while still offering great performance then I don't see why not.

Personally I think it's gonna be either a pixel phone with a "tensor by mediatek" type deal or a Motorola
