DeepIn2U, 06 May 2024I don't think this is a product Apple will launch for ... moreWhile I agree with the second and third reasons, I'm not convinced about the first one. To heavily cannibalize MBP/MBA/iPad Pro sales, this thing needs to be similarly priced or cheaper than them. If it's cost like 2x or 3x more than the most expensive MBP, it won't cannibalize the sales anytime soon.

Apple appears to make a specialty out of being late to the party these days.

          - Still nothing on the AI front, despite buying out companies and leaking rumours left and right about major features in upcoming models/OS versions (a lot of nothing tangible yet tho)
          - VR/AR/mixed reality headset, they launched it but it's an overpriced dud
          - Foldables... still nothing until next year (if it happens at all), again completely missing the trend

Apple is too busy milking proven streams like the iPhone and Macbook by continually releasing the same product with minor updates and new colours.

I'd like to see a mac surface like the surface pro.

Ipad os is not the same as macos, but I like the tablet style computer. I have a surface pro 7+ and I prefer it over any traditional style laptop.

Anton .el PAPI., 06 May 2024The iPhone thing is losing sales!! It always goes through t... moreApple dominates flagship segment every year.
But somehow not sure about iPhones sales this year though, pretty sure that any iPhone is still selling better than every other flagships combined (except in china & few markets),but how much better they're doing compared to same quarter last year..... that much we don't know.

In my country previous iPhones 13/14 used to get meaningful discounts around the launch of newer models at earliest.
But somehow this year iPhone 15 is available for meaningful discount(around 20-25% cheaper) compared to launch price, such discounts were not seen in previous years.

Apple doesn't seem like giving away discounts that easily especially when they know that their product is gonna sell,no matter what.
So maybe sales are not that good as Apple would've liked so offering discounts to boost sales.

              Who knows....

Foldable iPad or Macbook, a given. Makes sense when Samsung recently got their panel MIL-STD certified. Plus no IP rating needed on these devices, so easier to engineer.

And no, Apple won't do foldable iPhone anytime soon. The iPhone is such a main cash cow that Apple will never dare do anything drastic on it.

Another expensive flop - guarantee you that. Formfactor is just too niche.

it will follow the way of apple vision, apple car and apple 5G modem and lightning port.

Mills, 06 May 2024Will people buy it? Yes and then return it. That's wha... moreThe iPhone thing is losing sales!! It always goes through these months, always in the first quarter the iPhone drops sales, and it is obvious, it has been selling like hotcakes since October!!! until January and it will happen again in September when they announce the new iPhone, it will again leave Samsung and Xiaomi behind in sales in the hottest CHRISTMAS season!! What Apple sells in phones from October to January is not sold by anyone else, not even together, and let's not even talk about profits!!

Will people buy it? Yes and then return it. That's what happened with the Vision Pro. People bought it, raved about it, returned it and nobody is seen with one anymore. Apple cut production and expected sales to be HALVED.

Apple should not go through with this. They should instead make their RAM and SSD upgrades cheaper and focus on existing products. Their Vision Pro is not sinking, just having a rough ride, iPad is about to get an update though and iPhone is losing sales as well.

really ahead of the schedule when the fold 7 will launch at the same time

I don't think this is a product Apple will launch for 3 reasons:

                          1. It'll heavily cannibalize mbp, MBA, and iPad Pro sales significantly costing them millions in lost R&d recovery revenue.

                          2. It's not a product they can list as Accessible as touch on a flat glass surface is no good for severely visually I.paired or those fully blind. (Yes there is technology that'll raise a membrane for tactile feedback but no product shipping in 10yrs since inception).

                          3. Other than a large foldable screen what REAL benefit to the end user is there?
                          - you cannot type faster without a physical keyboard and Swift on a large screen would not be faster and more fatigue using your arm to draw when upright on desk in front of you or when walking.

Guess what? Our Apple iPad foldable will cost just $799. Oh wait, i forgot the 10 zeros that follow.

Can't wait to pay $10k for these!!!
